Mobs of young men � fueled by anger and, officials said, alcohol � burned the Seagull club, owned by a businessman originally from Azerbaijan. Then they attacked a series of precisely chosen targets: the homes and businesses of migrants from the Caucasus, mostly from Chechnya.

| I don't think it's fair to label this ethnic cleansing. Ethnic strife, violence, racial tension, violence, any of those would be fair, but is hasn't reached even close to ethnic cleansing proportions yet. |

| This is just racial/ethnic violence. Its not even close to ethnic cleansing. Ethnic cleansing is a systematic program of destruction of an ethnic group in a given area. Examples are European and later American and Canadian programs against Native Americans, the Holocaust, Bosnia and Kosovo. Those were ethnic cleansings. They were systematic efforts by the rulers to destroy a minority and their culture. This is the work of ignorant mobs. |

Yeah, if that's ethnic cleansing, then we should run for our lives because of all the 3D workers who've been used and abused by their bosses. |

You forgot the Turks and Armenians, Ugandans and Asians, Hutus and Tutsis and then Sudan.
Etnic cleansing is just that - driving out a particular group of people merits the label. Genocide means killing , cleansing can just mean chasing them out of town but it can include killing them as well. |

didn't you know? only white people can participate in ethnic cleansing. |
