He died 10 years ago today...

One of the greatest MCs of all time (and my personal favorite). Other MCs may have had better flows, but his syncopated and guttural delivery cannot be matched in my book...

Tupac, Tupac. Ohhh, Tupac. Where to begin with this guy? A) Overrated. B) Better off as a back-up dancer with Digital Underground than as an MC.

In my book he gets the blame for making the whole "beef" phenomenon the sorry joke of a promotion gag that its become. Yeah, he got 'killed' and all, but it did wonders for his sales, no?

Plus, if it wasn't for Tupac we never would have had to suffer through JaRule.

I can name maybe five trillion rappers who I'd take over Pac any day of the week.

I don't see what Ja Rule has to do with anything. You might be trying to compare their styles? Ja Rule rapped from the throat...Tupac, from the gut...(and Ja doesn't have a fraction of the riddim Tupac had)

Ok, being overrated, I could see that. Not the greatest rapper? Sure, its all subjective afterall...

But...like him or not, and you deny that this guy had any real talent...you pretty much lose any credibility you might have had on this topic.

= your opinion doesn't matter Confused

ok ok i overstated my case vis a vis Tupac. i never came right out and said the man had absolutely no talent. sure he had some good songs. but come on. you cant deny the status hes been accorded since his demise is at least somewhat out of proportion with his gifts on the mike.

as far as Ja=Pac lite, its more of a image thing than a sound thing. the whole "pretty thug" thing is pretty much pac's fault.

I'm not neccessarily a fan of the "thug life" aspect of tupac...but that was him telling how he lived. If anything tupac always said what was on his mind and how he lived, he was passionate about everything he talked about and it was real. Ja Rule, I think did it more to sell records...something of a poser...
