An hour and a half ago at around 1 pm today 1 or more gunmen opened fire on students at Dawson College downtown Montreal and are holed up in the school Shocked Things are still very confused but some students are saying there could be up to 4 gunmen. Police say they have "neutralized" 1 of them....whatever that means. Other reports say 2 gunmen are dead.
3 critically wounded people have been taken to hospital so far.

Shades of Ecole Polytechnique Confused Geez usually it's one or two loonies, but maybe 4?

The latest reports say a lone gunmen shot 20 people, killing one.
How can that be possible?
It reminds me of a bit of dialogue from the movie Barcelona.

Woman (Shootings in America): You can't say Americans are not more violent than other people?
Fred: No.
Woman (Shootings in America): All those people killed in shootings in America?
Fred: Oh, shootings, yes. But that doesn't mean Americans are more violent than other people. We're just better shots.

The police actually reacted pretty fast, and the lone gunman was dead minutes after it all began. One dead, and eight in critical condition.

T-dot, what happened at Concordia?

Perhaps you guys are talking about ecole polytechnique, which Canuckistan already addressed. In case some don't remember/know, that was the case where some crazed misogynist killed 14 women and injured 13 others. No word yet on what this crazy's motives were.

Yes, that's right. Ecole Polytechnique was part of U of M, not Concordia ... I was a student at Concordia when it happened.

I think there was a quadruple murder at Concordia university. Some guy (or a colleague) went nuts and killed four uni professors. It was about 10 years ago.

There must be some bad shyte running throught the waters of all the unis in Quebec.

Oh yeah, I vaguely recall hearing about that one. Dawson isn't really a uni, though.

Concordia also had a shooting many years ago when someone upset at not getting tenure went crazy. The only person he killed was a secretary who had nothing to do with his problems. I knew some people who were working on the floor above him when it happened.

Check out his website. The paranoid pestering he was known for before/during/after his crime and trial continues. It's amazing no one's strangled him in prison. He should really change his name to Valery Fatigant.

A MTL newspaper has identified the gunman at Dawson yesterday:

Kimveer Gill

Police have not confirmed that yet but monsieur has a very disturbing blog on some goth site: www.vampirefreaks.com

Username: fatality666
