If anyone is interested the Andong Mask Festival is on from September 29th to October 8th this year. So, you could kill a couple of days there over Chusok!

Back to Vietnam. Sit on the beach, drink inexpensive beer, eat shrimp the size of yo' fist, watch the ladies in their ao dai. Then come back to Korea and weep. |

I'm trying to convince my family to bike back to Chuncheon with me from Seoul to see the in-laws. Driving will be insane, and I haven't yet looked into train tickets, so that's probably a no-go.
I figure by car, it would take between 5 to 7 hours. By bike, probably around 4 hours, but without any of the draggage of sitting bumper to bumper eating fumes. I have a back-road route all planned with only a smattering of mildly-dangerous mountain sections...
So far, it's a dead idea. |

Newbies travel (in Korea). Oldies stay home and organize a local party!!
For those of you leaving the country for the holiday, plan on AT LEAST double the time to get to the airport AND back!!! |
that or come to Seoul, its the best time of the year to enjoy it, weather is nice, most of the sites are open and little traffic.
after 2 months of travelling this summer and just taking the wife on a visa run, we are broke and travelled out. Plan to watch football and some movies I have here |

The wife and I are off to the Philippines to relax on Boracay's famed White Beach for 6 days. We are desperate need of some R&R time and that sounds like just the cure! Just 2 and half weeks left!! |

Jinju for the lantern festival, then to Andong. Planning travel days around when people won't be on the road. |

Yep, me too. Ofourse we have to get out of Jinju. The festival will be cool but we should get out to see the countryside too. Some of the more isolated villages arounf Jirisan or on the islands would be perfect. Care for a daytrip? Im an early riser so getting up at 4 am or so wouldnt pose any problems. |

I was planning on staying home to get work done (I enjoy that sort of thing so I always make sure to arrange for a bunch of it), but:

So to what extent do things close down? In terms of shops, subway etc? I'm flying out for the first time on Sunday, so I'm not even a newbie yet. |
