Quote:
Four men were bragging about how smart their dogs are. The first man was an engineer, the second man was an Accountant, the third man was a Chemist and the fourth was a Government Worker.
To show off, the Engineer called to his dog, T-square, do your stuff!. T-square trotted over to a desk, took out some paper and a pen, and promptly drew a circle, a square, and a triangle.

Everyone agreed that was pretty smart. But the Accountant said his dog could do better. He called his dog and said, Slide Rule, do your stuff!. Slide Rule went out into the kitchen and returned with a dozen cookies. He divided them into 4 equal piles of 3 cookies each.

Everyone agreed that was good. But the Chemist said his dog could do better. He called his dog and said, Measure, do your stuff!. Measure got up, walked over to the fridge, took out a quart of milk, got a 10 ounce glass from the cupboard and poured exactly 8 ounces without spilling a drop.

Everyone agreed that was good. The three men turned to the Government Worker and said, What can your dog do?. The Government Worker called to his dog and said, Coffee Break, do your stuff!. Coffee Break jumped to his feet, ate the cookies, drank the milk, dumped on the paper, sexually assaulted the other three dogs, claimed he injured his back while doing so, filed a grievance report for unsafe working conditions, put in for Workers Compensation and went home on sick leave.

Ok - just tell us - why are you pissed off with government workers - and why are you taking out your frustration against government workers in such an unusual, incoherant and strange method - on a forum specifically for "teachers" living and working in korea?

does it have anything to do with this....

Thats fine, they can kick me out. Korea is an opiate. Leaving here would strengthen my character. I can even hide by partnering with Korean or moving offshore. What is the crime anyway? It helps the Koreans.

I can stand before god and say I am responsible for the current degree validation situation fiasco. I went on a mission involving Korean Immigration and the gov't eventually inacted the policies I recommended.

I'm can't seem to get public credit for it. I did that work back in the US and I have legal title to do the work.

Degree checking is easy work, its hard to get money for it. Back in the US where we have international students, its big business. Background checks are more lucrative because its a big mess, its actually complicated in a tedious way
??

perhaps you feel the Korean government should give you the "official" job of verifying all foreigners degrees - and performing criminal-background checks - as you claim to have the expertise and was the "chosen one" who encouraged and persuaded the korean government to check and validate everones transcrips/degrees.....?

do you really think they would give that job to a foreigner if there was such a job?

Sure, I'll answer your concerns. Yes, I find it ironic that the courageous world traveler type would seek reliable and safe employment in the civil service area. Lets see... eat exotic food, date exotic women, travel by camel back and then fill out government forms for a living. It makes me chuckle. It really does. I find it genuinely humerous. My OP was 90% troll.

Was I responsible for the sealed transcripts policy? It'd be nice to have credit. I sent a letter to immy officials and we had a meeting about my recommendation. I ran the ad like the one now posted in that forum. I got a half dozen calls and one was from CDI central office where I went and had a meeting as well. After all of that, the rules changed.
Was I responsible? I like to think so. I told them to loose the idea of using diplomas without exception but they still insist on using them.

I used to work with these types of people but to be honest, the work is dull.

Here are our credentialing criteria:

signed application and agreement (see below)
verification of unrestricted state medical license with appropriate licensing agency
verification of valid, unrestricted DEA certificate
verification of full, unrestricted admitting privileges and good standing on the medical staff at a CIGNA-participating hospital
board certification status with the American Board of Medical Specialties
review of malpractice claims history

verification of education and training *

review of work history
verification of adequate malpractice insurance
on-site visit to PCPs, OB/GYNs and high-volume behavioral health specialists
verification of prior sanctioning activities
proof of appropriate professional licensing (only for practitioners whose professions do not require medical licensure)

Yep, thats me!

Is this place a dead end? Yes, especially this lifestyle. We aren't making any progress here and the jobs are the same. Same pay same hours same effect. More like no effect. Why should I leave Korea when my photo will always get me a job? Why should I put myself through a tough interview back in the states for twice the pay and 5 times the pressure?

I've learned to manipulate the Koreans. I made it look like I was going to make money from the transcripts. Koreans copy everything, this created a dynamic and pretty soon its the norm.

I make it look like I am making money from this and it will be copied and promoted and soon that will be the norm as well. I'm sorry but after reviewing the standards here for background checks I saw a dismal mess. If the Koreans want to improve in this area, they need to something. My advice is sound. I'm just special beacuse I spent the years doing dull and tedious but necessary work competently.

most confusing thread ever????

What in the hell does it have to do with over-worked, underpaid public school teachers who spend more time raising and probably care more about the future of the children then the parents.....(not all teachers are like this...but the majority of teachers I had were pretty friggin' amazing.)

Yesterday in class a kid blew a snot bubble out of her nose. It caused me to stop what I was doing and say to myself, wow. And then I moved on.
This thread reminds me of the snot bubble.

Even with all the hubbub about degrees and criminal checks, I fail to see how being a non-degreed person with a "minor" criminal background (which I am NOT) would make me a worse teacher than the head-in-arse 22yo princess with a degree in Wasting Daddy's Money and no real life experience.

I mean, I have blue eyes!
