|
|
After I clear customs, where do I go to pick up my dogs?
Edit: All my paperwork will be in order, already good on info regarding the quarrantine.
Anyone that can walk me through this with a mental map etc. would be much appreciated. I'm going to be using a lock for the cages with a key taped to the top with their info/bio and my info. The vet gave me tranquilizers for them because they're shepherds and I'm worried about the 12 hour flight to Incheon.
Any advice would be helpful in the airport - is there a place nearby we can take them out for a walk to do their business? How does that work?
Thanks! |

Hi
If you're talking about Incheon airport then we picked up our cat at the cargo area, about 5 minutes away from the airport by taxi. However because our flight arrived after 5pm we had to return the next day to collect him. We had to wait 'til late afternoon (we were told to pick him up at 9am) and had to pay a fee to collect him.
This was 4 years ago though and I think they were a bit stunned at someone bringing a cat. Most likely it's improved since then - why not phone Incheon airport and ask them what you have to do? Better to get info direct from them and also the person's name you speak to.
Sorry I don't have more info - hopefully someone who's done it recently can help you more. |

Question: Are you flying with your dogs or are you picking them up at the airport because you are already here in Korea?
I can fill you in on my experience. I just came back from Canada with my dog about two weeks ago. He flew in the cargo hold of the airplane and was delivered to the oversize baggage area. I collected my baggage and then proceeded to customs with a Korean Air attendent. (They took my dog). It was really very simple: I gave them my dogs' rabbies certificate, signed a piece of paper and I was on my way. I was surprised that there was no fee and at how simple the whole thing was.
If you dogs are flying on their own, then I really can't help you as I have no idea of the procedure.
If you have any other questions, please send me an PM and I'll try and answer them for you. |

You pick up your dogs in the area where you pick up baggage. Then, you take your baggage, dogs, etc. to the customs desk (or get a porter to do it for you). They check your paperwork and you're home free. The trickier part will be transportation from the airport. |

Thanks for your help, I'll be flying with the boys. Transportation from the airport has already been arranged by my brother in law. The real worry I had was - does it take awhile to pick them up from baggage claim and where do I need to go and pick them up. Thanks again! |
