| In the past, many colleagues and friends had recommended some excellent DMZ Tour agencies. Anyone had any good experiences with some that they would suggest? I would like to go this Saturday or Sunday. Thanks! |

| You can just take the commuter train up there. When you come out of the station, turn left and walk to the next building, which is across from the mini-amusement park. Tours leave every hour on the hour if I remember correctly. Last tour is at 3pm. Tour takes 2, 2 1/2 hours. Good tour, too. |

| Only go by USO. They show you things no other tour can. |

I think you have to sign up in advance, though- he wants to go this weekend. I know for the USO, if you want to bring a Korean along, you need to sign up at least 2 weeks in advance so they could do a passport check~ |

I know several people who have gone on the DMZ tour more than once (with a different company each time). They all said that the USO tour is second to none.
You should phone the USO ( http://www.uso.org/Korea/default.cfm?contentid=348 ) and ask if they have any availabilities for whichever weekend you want. If not, you could try just showing up at the USO office, bright and early on Saturday morning. If there are any no-shows... you're in luck. When we went last year, a few extra friends decided - at the last minute - that they wanted to come along, so that's what they did, and nobody was turned away.
Make sure you ask if Korean citizens are allowed on the USO tour... I heard a rumour that they aren't.
Best of luck |

Yeah, I went on the USO tour and it was great. It was strange to be around so many people who spoke English however.
Our tour group had an American and a Korean soldier guid us through Panmunjom (JSA) which was the best part.
The Korean soldier told us the he prefers to take Western tourists because he's had Koreans come to the tour drunk and ask questions if his gun was real.
Talk about clueless.
Also, with the USO tour you get to go to one of the tunnels. Ths highlight of this part wasn't the tunnel itself, but the South Korean video we were shown before hand which basically suggested peace had arrived between the Koreas and it was smooth sailing ahead.

There was also some statement about how when people think of the DMZ, their first thought is of nature and untouched beauty. |

| Has anyone asked them if they're doing DMZ tours this weekend? It'd be pretty cool to go up there now. |

Yeah, how about an ESL Flash Mob of several hundred, all showing up in fatigues and those plastic UZI Super-Soakers they sell at E-Mart--all pile off the trains en masse, and just stand in a line to re-enforce the border? |

We should definitely load up the bus with a couple of kegs of Budweiser for this. |

There is no way they are doing DMZ tours this weekend. They shut the tours down for a lot less than what happened on Monday.
Plus I'm not sure you want to be there now do you??? South Koreans shot at North Koreans across the border earlier this week. Yeah, yeah everyone says nothing will ever happen... but I'm not so sure of that. |
