I'm not sure...
I haven't followed it all that closely, but it's hard to believe that they would extradite him all the way from Thailand and formally charge him with murder without at least some proof beyond a few suspicious emails and his vague confession...
If all they have additionally is a possible handwriting match to the letter found at the scene it might not be enough to counter family members' testamony that he was always at home for Christmases...
So, I think that they need convincing DNA evidence (or someone like Mark Furman willing to plant some...)
Absent hard evidence, it seems likely that he's just a somewhat deranged guy looking for notoriety - and maybe publicity for his book. But, then again, he just may have been able to inconspicously slip away from home (ten years ago...) long enough to fly to Denver and back. And, he does have a murderous look to his eyes... |

To me his gaze looks more "disconnected" than anything else..... although undoubtedly there has to be a good measure of "disconnectedness" needed to do what he's confessed to. |

I have to think his confession doesn't hold water. He's in it for the attention it is bringing him. The guy has some serious mental health issues as well as an unhealthy attraction to children, that doesn't make him a killer though.
My guess is that the DA and police are going to have more egg on their faces when he's either aquitted or the charges are dropped. |

It turns out that he is innocent.
Why do you suppose he made up the story?
Probably because he wishes he was a girl, wishes he was a beauty queen when he was a girl, and would like to closely associated with a child beauty queen. |

I wonder, does he still think he did it? |

I guess it depends on the further question, "Innocent of what?" Of killing JonBenet Ramsey? I guess that's what the DNA says. My guess, though, is that there's a lot he isn't innocent of, legally actionable or otherwise. |
