Anyone here ever see Lucinda Williams in concert?

I've been listening to her lately and am amazed that I've never heard of her until recently. I'm guessing that she still isn't all that well known. What a shame.

For anyone who hasn't yet heard her music, take a listen to 'Fruits of my Labour" from World Without Tears.

Very niiiiice! Very Happy

an old friend of mine who has incredible taste in music.. and incredibly knowledge about music.. who is into just about everyone you can imagine.. punk, rock, you name it.. was so entralled by her music.. he put a huge tattoo image of her up and down half his arm!

He also has jimi hendrix on the arm and a few others musicians.. but she was one of 'em.

He also saw her in concert.. showed the tattoo.. and she later signed it after the show.. which he tattoed it as well.

I rarely post here these days, but I'm happy to say that I saw the lovely and fantastic Lucinda Williams about a year and a half ago at the beautiful Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee. She's very well known in Tennessee, at least among people who listen to good music, I mean.

Edit: and by the way, in case you are looking for good albums, I'd have to recommend "Live at the Fillmore" over any of the others that I have: "Essence" "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road " or "World without Tears"

Just my opinion, of course.

My friend's old band named their first (and only) LP Lucinda in her honor. They won an East Coast Music Award for the album, which is a big deal in Eastern Canada.

Saw her when she opened for the Cowboy Junkies in Victoria, BC. The woman has it going on: the best I can come up with here is somewhere akin to Marianne Faithfull and Linda Ronstadt, but with a unique take of her own; a voice full of hurtin' and cigarettes and whiskey, but with an underlying optimism. I might have been extrapolating too much, but she really set the stage for Margo Timmins and those other guys.

She is amazing... "Drunken Angel" reminds me of this wonderful, tragic friend of mine.

Definetly worth seeing live.

"Car Wheels..." is one of the best records of the 90's. Amazing. Gurf Morlix on guitar.
