Not in the slightest.

Would I call a black man a ni#ger? Of course not.

Would I call a special person a retard? Of course not.

Would I call Liaoggok a retard? absolutely.

Have I called him one? Nope.

Will I call Liiaelagook a retard? Not at all.

I can think of much better terms to refer to him as.

Crying moaning bleeding heart tear jerking liberal whiner comes to mind a long time before retard does.

This post was just made to be read in a slurred, surly drunk voice.

Why?

Are you drunk and surly at the moment?

Hmm, I guess my post could have been taken like that, yes. But I'm just surly.

I made that comment because of your post was a long and round-about rant at laogaiguk made when he seems to be doing little to provoke you. But then again, I don't know the back story - this thread doesn't seem to account for the hostility between you two though.

Aw jeez.
I clicked on this out of curiousity, since a few insightful posters seemed to have hit the nail on the head pages ago. This thread seems to have jumped the rails a bit, hasn't it?

A bit of an understatement. If you start at the top of page 5 and hit the Page Down button, you can't even tell the page is changing. Confused

I don't find it very offensive. I think some people do because 20 or 30 years ago 'retarded' was the politically correct term for people with dysfunctionally low IQs.

I have two clinical retards in one of my middle school classes and a couple of borderlines in my other classes and I don't find the term offensive.

Does anyone know what is the politically correct term for retards these day? It seems they have to develope a new one every five years once the old one becomes a common insult.

Retard has never been a clinical, nor has it ever been a PC term. From the beginning it was an insult. Retarded was clinical, but not retard in the same way that mental was never a clinical term; it was an offensive slang that came from mentally retarded.

Um, yes, I know. And to think I spelled develop 'develope' - I can be such a retard sometimes.

Actually, since I started at my school my most retarded student has gone from being able to say 'hi' to 'hello, my name is'. How many other public school teachers can claim a demonstrable 400% increase in one of their student's vocabulary since arriving?

At least I don't have any students who are clinically mental. Very Happy
