I just came home with my wife (9.30pm Friday) and some little stoner followed us into our compound, bold as brass. I asked him who he was looking for and he said, "Sorry, I'm just looking for my friends." I said, "Well I don't think they're here!", and he headed back out through the gate and away up the street. A bizarre wee encounter, but it jogged my memory that HBC has had a problem with a cat burglar lately.

I wonder if this little bugger is the guy? He's very young, maybe under 20 (army brat?), and he's skinny with long, fair hair - maybe 5' 7" and about 120 pounds.

If he is the burglar he's a ballsy little bugger. I don't see why he'd just wander in behind us for any other reason. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I figure it's better safe than sorry! Anyway, watch out for this guy if you see him hanging around.

No way! Surely not Haebangchon, that ideal representation of a multicultural neighborhood! All I remember about Haebangchon is the sweet smell of flowers and potpurri on the well lit streets, beautifully restored post-war Korean housing, smiling faces of and friendly glares of well paid Africans, the elitist and respectable Koreans, the chaste Filipino and Russian women, the bright cheery faces of western foreign teachers, the eloquence of the American soldiers, the taxis that stop for everyone, the shopowners that give a resounding greeting when you enter their stores.....wait, am I talking about the same place?
