So I'm channel surfing when I see Jeanette Lee on MBC/ESPN representing Korea and playing against an American. Now, I know Mrs. Lee is ethnically Korean, but isn't there something a little weird about her representing Korea since she is a US citizen?
Is she a traitor?

The professional pool league probably doesnt have strict standards regarding this type of thing.
She knows which side her bread is buttered. Its pool. Not much money in it. But she is succesful. A succesful ethnic Korean can always parlay that into some cash over here. |

I saw some trick shot exhibition/competition between Ms Lee and some very young looking korean player.
In typical Korean disorganised style, the competition was deemed over leaving Lee cluelessly looking around saying "I won?" And her facial expression is like WTF?
Neither player seemed to know what was going on, then some ajosshi comes up and gives Lee the trophy. |

I believe there is something wrong with western born Koreans representing Korea in sports.
Another example is Dennis Kang, a PRIDE fighter (pride, K1, not sure exactly). Anyways, I believe he is born and raised in Canada, training in the USA, yet when he fights, he represents Korea and flaunts the Korean flag around after he wins.
If he was born in Korea, he'd be driving a taxi or something. These people don't even honor the countries that gave them the life that they have. Somethings wrong with that. |

So you'll no doubt be waving a Taeguki the next time national pride comes up right? |

I see nothing wrong with having sense of pride in their heritage. Back in the states it's very normal to say, "I'm Irish-American, Mexican-American, Scottish-American, French-American, etc. etc." That doesn't mean they are traitors or unpatriotic. I think they have more power and option not only for themselves but also for the country as well.
I remember during the last world cup game, the Togo team which was all black guys had a white dude playing in their team. The story was that he wasn't born in Togo but in some European country. However, his mother who is also white was born in Togo and had dual citizenship. Since he had mother's tie to all black country, he got to play in the world cup. Probably made his mother proud. More power to him. |

Toby Dawson won a bronze in skeleton in the Turin Winter Olympics. He's a ethnic Korean adoptee and the Korean media had NO problem with his representing the United States.
One of the reasons that Dennis Kang is playing up his PARTIAL Korean ethnicity (he's half) is probably endorsements. |

He isn't half Korean. He's full Korean adoptee. He was orphaned in Korea and was adopted by American parents. |

Wrong, you retard! He IS half, as his dad is Korean and his mother is French. They emigrated from the French island of St. Pierre of Miquleon to Vancouver, Canada when he was two.
