Excuzzzze me?

Evangeline Lilley may be from Canada but KATE is from IOWA.
I take it as a personal insult that they hired a ferriner to play an Iowan. Remember the scene from Season 1 under that weird tree (no self-respecting Iowa tree would look like that) and those cows with horns out to there? They were most definitely (or definately as so many here prefer) imposters. It was ludicrous actually.

Just think about it. You are a bunch of TV script writers. You have a major chick star who is involved in a bank robbery, who ran out of a hospital room where her mom is dying of cancer and is terrified of her own daughter and who gets her childhood sweetheart killed. You have to make her sympathetic. How to counteract all of the bad vibes? There is only one way. She has to be from IOWA for enough compensating virtue or she turns into a total.... oh what is that word I'm looking for?

Question: do American passports have French on them? I noticed in one episode of Lost, the one where she was changing around her passport, that it had French on it. My Canadian passport has French on it. Watch that episode again, and you'll see it. Not sure what an American passport looks like on the inside, so I can't say whether it's Can or Am.

English, French and Spanish.

But if you are really cool you have:

Quote:
THE WORLD PASSPORT

The World Passport is a 30 page document printed in 7 languages: English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Chinese and Esperanto. Each passport is numbered and each page contains the World Citizen logo as background. Two pages are reserved for affiliate identifications: diplomatic corps, organizations, firms, etc. There are nineteen visa pages. In the inside back cover, there is space for home address, next of kin, doctor, employer, driving license no. and national passport/identity number. The cover is blue with gold lettering.

Lots of fictional Americans from there.

It's true. There are only 2.9 million of us real ones, so we have to invent fictional ones to take up the slack. And what with sitting around waiting for the corn to grow, we have a lot of time to do it.

Besides Captain Kirk, there is Radar O'Reilly from Ottumwa. I don't really count Ray Kinsella (Field of Dreams)--he's a naturalized Iowan.

Yes they do. French may not be spoken by many in the US, but it has still been considered a language of diplomacy for a long time. From the signature page of my passport:

Quote:

Sorry about the lack of accent marks.

There is a similar message written in Spanish on the same page.

There are a lot of people who say they are from Canada. Ethan Rom said he was, and I thought there was someone else questionable who said the same thing. Maybe the Dharma Institute is Canadian.

That would explain the overabundance of macaroni and cheese rations.
