500won an apple + 1 free is expensive?
Maybe I've lived in NYC too long... $1.50-$1.99/lb isn't unusual there. |
the small macintosh/red delicious apples they sell at midtown street vendors are $0.50, small bananas are $0.25 each or 3/$1 depending on which street vendor
yesterday i bought 1 pomegranate for $2 and small yellow peaches for $1.99/lb in a korean supermarket, organic in the other supermarket i go to (wholefoods) go for more, like $2.99/lb so you get like 2~3 peaches
but then in korea (but mind you, it was 4 years ago), i could buy fruit at the local fruit store that they divide into batches in plastic colanders for somewhat similar prices, even asking them if i can only take half as i lived alone, ajummas were usually understanding and sometimes gave me more than half (btw, can anyone tell me what 1 geun is? ) |

One "portion". It depends on the type of produce. And the vendor, really. |
