Who in this forum have done some editing and proofreading jobs in Korea?
I started doing this at home with several translation companies in Korea, but for 5 out 10 jobs, forget about getting paid. I don't know how these people stay in business not paying freelancers this way. Based on numbers of jobs that you never get paid for, it's not worth it. I quit today.
Have you had any problems like this if you ever done these type of jobs? |

Yeah. Some can be low paid. Some can be well paid. I've never had a client ditch out mostly because I work on jobs through translator friends and they tend to want to keep the friendship alive. |

| Make sure you get the clients business card, and then hound them if you don't get paid. The safest way around it, of course, is to demand cash in hand when you return the proofreading. Don't do it over the net using files. Do the proof by hand as it leaves you some control. |

I have done quite a bit of it and have never been stiffed. I'm surprised to hear that you have. I guess I was just lucky.
Sorry to hear about your experience. |

| How do you all find these jobs? Is there any place where they're advertised, or a company to go through? I've done proofreading in Europe before, & I'd love to start doing it again, but I haven't found much online. |

If you read my posting carefully, you don't want to do it online. To do it the sure way, you should get these jobs through networking directly with people that you know like other guys mentioned.
Don't be a fool like I was. It's not worth of your time, I'm sure. |
