guys,
if you haven't heard of this chain of ice cream store, it is
simply some of the best ice cream you will ever eat.
i was chatting this up with my girlfriend the other day when
we were gnawing on some second rate Baskin Robbins the other
day.
then it happened...
we were walking near Jongno 3 station, in the restaurant area by
the large piano keys and there it was...A Stone Cold Creamery
ice cream made fresh on-site, huge waffle cones made fresh, and
the kicker, you choose what ingredients you want in the ice
cream and they mix it in fresh on a giant cold stone counter.
it's beyond good and slightly orgasmic.
i do not recommend it for anyone who is on or planning to diet however. |

Actually, she's probably on a D8 and on loan from the US training center. Unless they're the gambling type. |

And will their embarrassing & stupid ice cream names be loosely translated into Korean, or will they just mimic the English sounds like Baskin Robbins does?

| There was a Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream near there (the piano keys), and it didn't last. I don't think Koreans are ready for such a concept as good ice cream (or at least Baskin Robbins fills the bill.) |

I don't think it will be a matter of the taste, but the serving size. Their customers will be:
90% -- Korean girls or women, ordering the daintiest sizes available, which takes just as long to make & eat. They may even have to invent some new (commercially-impractical) smaller size to accommodate Korea serving-size preferences.
2% -- porky foreigners, ordering the large sizes
8% -- the rest of the population, ordering whatever
Then there's the long wait. Unless they're handing out free ice cream for that interminable wait, will bali-bali Koreans really want to stick around that long? They do at Krispy Kreme, but they get free dog-nuts there. Dog-nuts. |

I used to work at a Second Cup and they would blend various flavored coffees and then come up with names for them. Banana flavored coffee and vanilla flavored coffee they would blend and call a Banana Split.
I started making weird coffee blends and odd display tags for them. One was something like Bavarian Dutch Chocolate and Orange Brandy and I called it "Illuminati: a conspiracy of flavors that will have you convinced the government is watching you through your coffee maker." And then I had one that was a blend of Jamaican Rum and Irish Cream and I called it "The Brother Earl Grey doesn't talk about".
Of course Windsor being a lunch bucket town just never fully appreciated my sense of humor. Ass faces. |

I went there a few weeks ago. I think it won't be a big hit like Baskin. The ice creams were too creamy and sweet. My korean friends were all somewhat dissapointed. And the singing was quite annoying.
I think Italian ice creams are better for our taste. |
