I'm planning to go to Costco tomorrow, but wonder if anyone has had any experience buying a printer there recently. How much should I expect to pay for either a color inkjet or laser? This would mostly be for work, though I would like to be able to print out photos from my digital camera as well. Anyone know the price of toner for a laser printer?

I'm also wondering how most people make photocopies here, when you're not at work. Should I lean towards an all-in-one unit? (printer, scanner, fax, copier)

Your best bet is go to Samsung... the SCX-4200 Laser printer/scanner/copier is 240,000 and does great work. It even has english menus and english display 9you need to set it from the menu that way, but is fairly easy to do)

Its a great printer. I've had it for 5 months now. The toner cartridge that comes with it is one of those half-filled ones---good for approximately 1000 sheets. The full toner will print 2000 sheets, and the cartridges are around 90,000. Compare that to the 150 +/- sheets an inkjet does (at 45,000 won per cartridge, and the laser is also the most cost effective.

Only one drawback -- it only pronts in black. But if you are making photocopiable copies, thats all you need.

I've got an HP psc (all-in-one) 1350 that prints with amazing clarity, seriously I can read x-rays it's printed, it's that good. It prints colour, photocopies and scans too. I didn't get it at Costco but have noticed Costco carries similar models.

I got it a little more than 3 years ago, for about $200.00 and have never had trouble with it. Scandal or no, I'd happily buy another.

ThePoet and I both agree...I price-shopped and looked around for a couple of months before springing for the Samsung SCX 4200. So far, I've been pleased with the choice.

I have a question to add: For those of you with black-and-white-only printers, what do you when you want to print digital pics? Is it cost-effective to take my camera to the local photo shop and have them print them? Sorry for the thread hijack, it seems to be in the same vein as your original post.
