The value added tax is 10%. I do not know what the exceptions to the tax are. The tax is INCLUDED in the purchase price when it is applicable so if you see a sticker price of 2000 won, that is what you pay.
1800 won for the product and 200 won for tax.
(numbers are NOT exact here and are for demonstration purposes only). |

If you look on a receipt from the grocery store you will often see two totals, with tax being added to only one (they add up the pre-tax price on these and show you the tax that was added, you are still only paying the sticker price). I really have no idea if it is food/non-food, processed/unprocessed etc, like at home, but there is definitely a division. I guess you could do an experiment and buy only two things at a time and see what they show tax being applied to... |
