I'm making my way over to Korea, so I spend a lot of time reading posts on here.
From my understanding, it's hard to find deodorant in Korea. If Koreans don't use deodorant, do they stink? Do they mask the smell by spraying cologne or perfume in their armpits?
I'm a bit curious. |

Honestly, I rarely smell BO from Koreans, even in a packed subway car.
I, on the other hand, smell like a dead rotting fish if I don't use adequate deodorant in the summer heat. |

Some K-Chicks told me back in 2002 that we smell like cheese.
One should think that a Class Action Lawsuit against Gillette and their ilk should be in order.

| Asians got stuck with the Asian flush and 3rd round draft pick and us westerners got stuck with body odor plus Willie Plett. That was the deal. |

Human secretory glands are primarily divided into 2 types: apocrine and eccrine.
Eccrine glands are distributed over the entire skin surface, where they are involved in thermoregulation by means of sweat production.
Apocrine glands have a limited distribution involving the axilla, genital skin, and chest. Apocrine elements are also found in the periorbital and periauricular areas. (groin / and arm pits).
Apocrine glands have no thermoregulatory role but are responsible for characteristic pheromonal odors.
Asian people do NOT have apocrine glands - therefore no pheromonal odors. (similar to canines which also have no apocrine glands)... (if you watch both canines and asian people they have a tendency to sniff themselves a lot - - especially after touching their private areas - or the private areas of other people)...
therefore Asian people have no need for deodrant.....
but Asian / Korean people still smell.......
because you will discover many students in Korea - don't shower that often - preferring only to splash water on their face and head each morning - (and go the the sauna on the weekend)....
and most younger korean students wear the same "panties" / clothing for an entire week - hence they still can smell quite BAD......... (especially during weekdays Wednes~Saturday - its just a different kind of bad smell - caused from urine, dong and not showering often enough....

are you equating asians to dogs???
and by the way, if you're going to post something, check out your sources first 
its not that asians dont have apocrine glands, they just have fewer spread out over their bodies

Miguk Naemse - Smell of Americans
Koreans and Chinese have long complained about the literal smell of Westerners, who were early and easily distinguished supposedly by the odor associated with eating cheese and drinking milk, but since diets have in part become internationalized, along with deodorants and as the West has taken to bathing regularly, this appellation is less common. Still, Koreans use the term norangnae, the "yellow smell" associated with sweat, which Koreans feel is more prevalent among Westerners.
But there is a term now in use that reflects not how foreigners smell from food or bodily excretia, but how Koreans perceive other Koreans who too closely interact in specific ways with foreigners, specifically Americans. That is miguk naemse, literally "the smell of Americans," or, since naemse is not a perfume, perhaps it is better to call it "the odor of Americans." It is not a pleasant expression.... The term also seems to apply not to those who have American friends, but those who are too close to American policies and ideas.... As one Korean academician said, "If Americans are considered friends, North Koreans are considered brothers." The U.S. should remember this.

Koreans don't work up much of a sweat. Your humid summer, I look like someone has thrown a bucket of water on my chest. Koreans are in suit and tie and not a drop of perspiration.
(Beating the stink in summer in Korea: carry baby powder and some spray on deodorant in your backpack. Make regular trips to the washroom to freshen up.) |

no I was not equating asians to dogs - and even if you misread what i say and think I am.... would it be much different to Korean people referring to Japanese people as moneys (dokdo issue) or Korean referring to to Westerners as monkeys? (hair)
now look what you have done (referring to gang ah jee and rocklee 's comments - you've started racist-hate replies...... (against whities)

All summer long I saw ads on the subway for deorderant. THe picture had some guy with a ridiculous smile looking at his shaven armit.
Yes you can buy deoderant here, but I don't know how good it is. |

That's a lousy picture to represent asian flush. I can take a better pic of asian flush with my cellphone on any Seoul subway at around 8pm. |
