Thinking the unthinkable: Korean War II
How well do South Korean forces measure up against North Korea's military machine one-on-one?

There is an often-heard adage that North Korea's troops are underfed.... Badly fed and undertrained on old equipment? "It's true," said Kwon Tae-young of the Korea Research Institute For Strategy. But, the researcher explained, there is another factor, often cited by retired senior military officers here, that tends to balance out those shortcomings. That factor is sheer numbers, which some observers believe can make up for a lack of quality. "Their experience and the sheer numbers alone make up for what they lack in quality," Mr. Kwon said. "For instance, there is probably less automation, but an artillery unit operated by experienced soldiers is still deadly and they have many of them." ... North Korea's untested nuclear weapons have been made small enough to fit on a missile.

Strategic ignorance. What of the airland war, the ability to counter massive armour and artillery superiority through superior air, detection and guidance systems. South outscores the North here. Resupply is another issue falling by the wayside. How long could the North sustain an attack given their lack of spare parts and fuel?
