I read on another thread that North Korea has been doing a lot of human trafficking and it got me to thinking...

How much is a north Korean person worth? If the U.S. truly wanted to usurp power from Kim Il Jung, this is what they should do:

Offer every North Korean $10,000 to allow themselves to be sold out of North Korea. At 27,000,000 North Koreans that would cost the U.S. $27,000,000,000. Although that sounds like a lot of money, it would be cheaper than another war and Kim Il jung would lose his power base entirely. I am also sure that you could buy the older, less productive citizens (the ones who can barely walk anymore) for less...maybe $5000, or if they are really old, $2000.

Then when North Korea has no more people living in it, and Kim Il Jung is wiped out of power because there is nobody to have power over, you can sell North korea's land and supplies to the highest bidder. I bet you recoup the money you had spent on each of the NORK's you bought in the first place. In fact, some of them may be able to buy their land back for the $10,000 they were given.

What do you think? Too peaceful for American government mentality? Where is the flaw in this plan?

Are you serious?

Just how many people do you think the North Koreans would be willing to sell?

Do you really think KIJ would let this happen?

Some people shouldn't be allowed out of their own country. Rolling Eyes

now now...
the idea isn't entirely without merit. for an idea he just pulled out of his ass, it's a pretty interesting one. as it was already said, kim jeong il wouldn't allow it to happen just like that. but as a pre-war move, it might be worth thinking about... just to see how far he could be pushed. anyone you could evacuate out of the country beforehand would be a bonus when the sh*t actually hit the fan. of course, this is taking for granted that a war is inevitable.
still... fun things to think about.

KJI would be a shrewd businessman. He'd sell off everybody he saw as "dead weight" -- the incurably ill, the feeble-minded, the feckless, the handicapped, the hopelessly malnourished, the criminally insane, the doddering oldsters too weak to swing a pickaxe or haul rubble, etc. for $10,000 a head. Once they were all gone, he'd stop selling.

Maybe so, but there's a big difference between blackmarket sales of a few females and the type of whole sale purchasing which would be necessary to cause any kind of significant shift in anything.

Aside from which, even if we considered it worthwhile to purchase non-productives just to make for less people to deal with during a war, we would have to strike soon thereafter.

And the guru is dead-on. The people we would get from such trades if KIJ did allow it would be the type that consume more than they produce. Healthy productive laborers and military age/soon to be military aged youths would not likely be forthcoming.
