Apart from one very persistent Korean admirer in my class last winter in the UK, I can't say I have usually received much attention from Korean males. Since I arrived here a few months ago, I have been chatted up my men of other nationalities but not Koreans.

Seven weeks ago I broke my foot, which required a plaster cast (removed last week) and crutches (still on them). What a change! It started at the hospital with a junior doctor getting quite excited about my toenail varnish. Next was the doctor who applied the cast, he hardly concentrated on the job in hand, so busy was he quizzing me about my marital status and love life and he went quite sulky when I said I had a boyfriend.

The next time I went to the hospital, a workman jumped in the lift with me and tried to chat me up. I began to think it was my imagination. Then a taxi driver, who was happily quite good looking and gallant, told me my face was beautiful like a rose.

The best was this morning. I was hobbling around on crutches in the town centre minding my own business when a Korean man in a suit approached me "Fraulein!" he said in a Korean/Germanic accent, I was taken aback, "vhere you come from?'
"England" I replied
"India!?"
"No England" (note, big mistake had I said India he would have no doubt left me alone, but my brain had frozen in disbelief)
"you travel here'
"No"
"You Verk here"
"Yes"
"in office?"
"No"
"teacher?"
"yes"
"mm you have hurt your leg, ah you have verk this afternoon? Are you alone here?"
"yes"
"vould you like a date vith me?"
"so sorry I have a boyfriend"
"here?"
"no, abroad I will join him in two weeks time"
"GO, enjoy your time, goodbye" (this said with a dismissive wave of the hand).

Why? Do they have a foot fettish? Do they feel sorry for me? Do they love a damsel in distress? I am mystified, I have never felt less attractive and here I am with ajosshis of all ages and classes finding me apparently irresistible.

I would go with the 'damsel in distress' hypothesis, but who really knows?

Enjoy what you can of it...and keep posting stories like that. It was entertaining.

PS: Sorry about your foot (really) but your pain brought me some pleasure. You wouldn't consider incurring some other injury along about...hmmmm...this is late September, how about late November or early December, would you?

After your injury is healed: fake cast, keep crutches. Heck, get a neck brace and wheelchair. Experiment a little and post the results.

Really? Why didn't I know this years ago?! I could have saved a fortune on cosmetics and high heels! Great that I can still learn something about men, thanks for the insights guys!

Sorry Ya Ta Boy I am generally a giving person, but one injury was quite enough, you will have to get your winter entertainment elsewhere.

It was not for nothing I was ignored on the 'kindest poster thread' which I instigated BTW! If you remember I voted for you, but now I realise how sadistic you really are.... Smile

Korean men like their women young and helpless.

Why I'm not sure.

But that's the impression I keep getting.

Helpless maybe, young, mmmm, three weeks away from my 38th birthday!

I did discuss this with a Taiwanese friend last night, just after I posted the thread she said 'oh Asian men are weak, it makes them feel stronger'.

Her view, not mine necessarily.

NOW the selfish side comes out. This may explain the dearth of votes for you on the Kindest Poster thread.

It somehow reminds me of my friend Patti's story. She once called up from Denver in a mild panic.

"Ya-ta, Ya-ta, the neighbors are too kinky! Every Saturday afternoon the neighbor woman in the condo gets tied up to her bannister and a different guy whips her...with the curtains open. What should I do?"

I had to ask, "Are you really scandalized or are you feeling left out? As the Marquis said, pleasure and pain are negotiable definitions. When in Rome..."

Wink

And more to the point, shouldn't you be willing to suffer for your art? That was a really well-told story.
