What is the idea of korean competitiveness? When it comes to cars..the policy is to keep foreign cars out of korea. I ran across this article in the Korea Times.... "A domestic and a foreign automaker are about to go head-to-head in the Korean market as Hyundai pitches itself against Europe-based Lexus." Yes...Head to Head! "Hyundai Motor sold over 72,000 NF Sonata sedans and 56,000 Grandeur TGs in the first eight months of this year, while Toyota sold 1,729 Lexus ES350 units."
72,000 to 1,729? That is going head to head?
I bought a hyundai back in 1991...ran for 3 years...then transmission gave out. Same happened to a friend 2 years ago. Too bad he didnt take my advice!

I was reading about the FTA and it was saying the tax on american cars was something less than 10% now and if the FTA goes through it'll go to zero, I think.
When I first saw how closed the car market was it made me angry because hyundais are all over America. but then I thought, hey, these people are stuck driving hyundais. that's punishment enough. |
