Is there any way to keep my monitor from dimming when it's on battery power? I tried changing around the settings for battery power but got no change.

Question Do you mean when the settings for "power management" take over? Otherwise, I don't have the faintest idea of what you are referring to. If so, then do the following:

-Right click on your desktop and choose properties
-Go to the tab that says screensaver
on the bottom you sould see "Monitor Power" and button in that box that says "power".
-click the button that says "power"
-Under Power schemes, look at where it says "Turn off Monitor" "Turn off Hard disk" "System Standby".

Adjust the settings accordingly then press apply then ok.
Viola!
Very Happy

Would it be too harsh to say "RTFM," or at least "Tell us what laptop you're using so we can RTFM for you?"

My laptop (Samsung SensP25) has the monitor going dim on battery power also. I assume it is a power saving process. I just use the function (FN) key and the brighter up key to bring it back up to normal viewing brightness where it will stay.

Did you check the bios? There are power saving features in the bios and that sounds like one. It may not be windows doing to you.
