Just letting anyone know who might go to that bar enough to know some of the regulars.
이원씨 or "JUAN".. a Korean male guitarists who played in quite a few Korean bands.. and a regular at The Bar and Woodstock in Shinchon died last weekend. If you don't know his name, he has the features of a native american indian, and was often asked if he was, even though he's Korean. Also spoke fluent English, lived in Australia for awhile, etc.
Later, I might try to post a picture, I know I have one somewhere.
I don't know much about the death.. there was just a public announcement about it. Either he died in Sodaemun or his funeral was there.
Anyone else happen to know the story or 'Juan' and what happened? He was a relatively young guy.. probably late 20s.. possibly 30 years old. Don't know what happened, only that something did happen. |

Oh my god - can't believe this. Won was a friend of mine way back when from my days as a regular at the bar, and he and my husband jammed together sometimes. We'd lost touch and I hadn't seen him in about a year.
Any info you hear, please pass it on...

Got a picture of him here.. I took this picture of Won/Juan about 5 years ago.. but last time I saw him (probably a good six months ago now).. he still looked quite similar.
From what I know.. he died on September 23rd (Saturday).. and his funeral was September 25th (Monday). |

I received a few private messages about it as well.
I'm thinking maybe sometime after the Chuseok holidays.. those who knew him could get together. Maybe even talk to the bartender down in the 'Bar' to see if he could hold something?
I wasn't a close friend, but I did have quite a few beers with him over the last few years in Shinchon.
Would be a good memorial - someone else suggested it by private message as well. |
