You won't be sent to the army on the F4. I think theres a chance if your a registered male on the the family registry, I'm not sure though. Gyopos I know aren't though. F4 is way better than an E2. With an E2, to me it seems like the hakwon has more control over you since their sponsoring your visa. With an F4 you can quit your job at any time without having any visa problems.
Also if you just want to work part time jobs, thats fine also. You can also own property under an F4, and the visa lasts 2 years. I don't see any reason why you should keep the E2.
I'm only half korean, but was able to receive the F4, and I like it a lot better than my first year when I was on the E2. |

who is this yoo seung joon and more importantly, how did the laws change?
the F4 sticky wasn't really helpful. some kyopo i met said that it now depends on whether your parents naturalized before/after you were born. anyone know what's up? |

as long as YOUR NAME isn't on the hojuk you are fine.
My buddy is on the Hojuk and he can only get his E-2 or he has to serve. |

That's not true, I'm not sure where you are getting your info from but your name can't be on it. when you get your F-4 you expunge your parents name from it. I got mine in Oct of 2005 and my friend got his in the summer and his dads name was on it. |
