|
|
Hey everyone, my boyfriend and I just got a job offer in Yongin City for Eaton English school. I think it is a new school and so far I can't find any info about the schools on the blacklist sight. What I was more curious about was the city, anybody taught here before? Any information or 2 cents about living/teaching there? Thanks, peace. |

Ypngin seems to be getting a lot of questions lately.
It's 40 minutes o an hour out of Seoul by bus. Seoul never has blues skies, thanks to the pollution, Yongin has them on occasion.
Seoul is an extremely crowded city, Yongin has little farms and mountains all about. Yongin does not have a subway or train line, but one is coming sometime 2008-2010. There's McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, not much else in terms of American joints. Plenty of fine, heap restaurants if you like korean food. Pretty small foreigner scene.
Not many of the locals speak English here. the ones that do are friendly.
I've lived here about a year and will o so for another year. I wouldn't want to live in Seoul, though it's a great place to go and spend a bunch of money. |

Just out of curiosity, does Yongin include Suji and Jukjeon? I'm a little confused as to the boundaries of Yongin. |

I believe Yongin does include Suji, which is close to Bundang, a wealthy area.
I may be wrong. |

Jukjeon is Suji, and Suji is Yongin. |

Hmm, interesting. Jukjeon is gonna be insane in a few years. Last time I passed through everything was under construction, but it looks like there's a Shin Segye going up, a bunch of new apartment buildings, some other stuff, and the (unopened) subway station in/near E-Mart.
Even the area around Bojeong Station is getting built up quickly.
All said it should look pretty nice when it's finished. |

Visit this site, click on Sightseeing, then Destinations by Region, and click on Gyeongi Do, and you can find lots of info and pix about Yong-In.
Yong-In is kind of a satellite town of Seoul. It is surrounded by big hills and has all the mod cons. It has no rail link, but you can travel into Seoul quite easily by bus, costing just W3500 each way. |

You can travel from Yongin to Seoul (Kangnam) for 1,600 on the 5001 or 5002 bus, leaving every 20 minutes until aafter midnight. |

I din't much like Yongin. Kind of dull. Used to go to Bundang for groceries, a 40 minute bus ride, because it was hard to buy much in Yongin.
If Suji is part of Yongin, what is the part outside of Seongnam city outside Bundang called? |

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but I'm really confused. I have met this certain poster several times, and I always forget which is which-- is it JeJuJitsu or ChopJaeJoe that I know? Please guys, straighten me out, because I'd like to get in touch with that fella without having to send a pm to the wrong person. |

Thanks. Hey, let me know if you want to do some Yongin cross-networking though. For example, there's a party tonight with at least a dozen foreigners if you're interested, and I'd be glad to meet you or anyone you want to introduce me to. |

Hey Greygirl,
I'm living in Yongin now and to be honest I like it. To give you a quick background about me, I'm use to living in Chicago. They have a lot of stuff here that I'm use to. Subway, dunkin donughts, 2 huge Supermalls, bars, health club...etc. I think it really depends on where you live in Yongin. Sure it's smaller than Seoul, but I thank god I didn't get a job there. I like the smaller cities, but by small I don't mean Dawson's Creek small town, it's still big enoough that im still overwhelmed with the amount of retail shops in the area.
I can get to the Seoul Subway station on a bus in about 40-50 minutes. That's 1 bus, no transfering.
Well, this is about all I know so far...
So where's this party at?? hehe |
