You missed the mom and pop kalbi house.

Having said that, TGIF for lunch and Outback for dinner.

Rainbow day at TGI's 40% discount last Wednesday of every month is a day I look forward to every month. Chillies used to be my favorite but they're not around that much any more and Jamsil is too far away. Sizzler salad buffet is good but they're regular portions are tiny and over priced.

They're all overpriced, and I only go to them a handful of times a year, but I voted Bennigan's. They have the most diverse menu, IMO. Their monte cristo is sooooooooooo good (also one of the cheapest choices) and easy to share (I've started sharing food at western restaurants now- turning Korean, I really think so~). ^^

I've had bad experiences at them all actually. Stuff that may happen in the west too but seem to happen all the time here.

Outback has been guilty of two of the worst steaks I've ever tried to eat. But their chicken and ribs are okay.

Sizzler has a decent salad bar but the place is usually swarming with young children when I go.

I just don't like the kind of food at VIPS. Too fussy.

TGI's did a truly awful burger for me at one time, then, on another occasion, when I decided to give their burgers a second chance, I was told all burgers were off the menu. Sold out! At 7PM!!

Black Angus was pretty good.

Seven Springs is excellent all round.

I was just about to say. Yeah there's on in Hongdae and they opened one recently in Myeong Dong. The pasta bar is great. Very different from Sizzler. I love their crepe bar.

People, here's a tip.

There's a great buffet style italian restaurant called 'Jessica's Kitchen' at the Express Bus Terminal station on Line 7. It's difficult to explain exactly where it is, but next to the terminal (connected with a walkway) there is an educational science place for kids called 'Thinktown' I believe. If you can find this, Jessica's kitchen is right next to it outside.
There is a really good selection of western food... spaghetti's of course, pizza, sea food, salads (caesar too), potatoes, garlic bread, roasted chicken breast, free drinks, excellent desserts etc. etc.
If you choose to sit outside (which I prefer in this weather) you get 10% off.
Check it out.

Thought Outback would be in the lead. Actually, I really liked Suji's the one time I was there, but I want ppls views on the Western Chain family restaurants here. Just curious. I want to try out the Spring restaurant that has been mentioned a few times.

I think Outback is okay but the food on their menu just isn't that hard to make if you have a barbecue here. I'm barbecuing their food basically every week. I also find the food to be a little salty there, or at least that's been my experience.

VIPS

The all you can eat buffet that comes with the steak has some good things on it (e.g., tacos, lychee fruits). Plus, every VIPS I've been to has been clean on the inside. TGI Friday's an Bennigan's had a dingy, grimy feel to them whenever I've been (same goes particularly for any Burger King I've been to).

Outback is in second place on my list. Or maybe Tony Roma's. Outback and Tony Roma's are about the same to me.

I might have voted for Black Angus as the best if it had been an option.

Last time I went to Bennigans they totally replaced their North American menu with bizarre Korean imitations of North American food. Like deep fried sandwiches dusted with sugar.

all those restaurants are terrible. for some reason my boss thinks that when we go out for lunch, we're all homesick for western food so he drags us out to one of those craphouses. none of us are impolite enough to raise a stink.

so we go from being not homesick to just "being sick" which sucks.

That's a Monte Cristo sandwich, and it's really good, and authentic Western. Filling, with a large portion of meat. Don't think of it as a sandwich, but more of a hot pocket, and you'll do fine.

From Wikipedia-
Quote:
A Monte Cristo sandwich consists of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese between two slices of bread, soaked in an egg-based batter and grilled or deep-fried.

The sandwich is often served with fresh fruit or with maple syrup on the side. It is sometimes served with strawberry preserves, powdered sugar, or sweet mustard sauce.
