What would you like played at your funeral?

What would put the 'fun' into funeral for you? Well, you would be dead...... but think of others, for Gods sake!!! Do you want to depress everybody (appealing...the b*stards!!) or do you want to 'uplift'? Or would you just like pew after pew of puzzled expressions?

Don't want a funeral, don't want music. I hope when I die they (after making sure I'm actually dead) rip my body apart, use whatever organs I haven't damaged so badly they can't do anyone else some good, and then burn my body up and feed my ashes to the garbage can. That's about all the ceremony I desire.

Talk about a tough question...it's hard to find a musical full stop.

It's pretty much certain that if myself or one of my old crew dies we would throw an outdoor party to celebrate....in which case there is ample opportunity to have many tracks played. Personally I'd probably want a party either at the top of the mountain we first put on an event or in the valley of a commune I've always felt very much at home in.

I'd like some seminal tracks played which have been the soundtrack to various life defining moments I've experienced and tracks that both myself and my closest friend's love...tracks that would bring back memories of the high points for them as well. I think I'd like to have them played with some of Stan Brakhages visual cleansing films.

Too many to list but Autechre: "Eutow" off the Tri Repetae album would be a definite contender.

Just got a call from Mom. The tree I planted on my cemetery plot last year didn't make it through the summer. My idea was to be cremated and then buried among the roots of that tree. A Prairie Fire tree.

Back to the drawing board on that plan.

As for songs...No question. Kozmic Blues. Janis. Then to lighten the mood, Alexander Beetle (Melanie) and The Wonderful Toy (PP &M).

P.S. Springsteen playing "Born to Run" might be better than little Thommy and the boys. He'll probably outlast me too.

I want to have a wake-type of send-off; letting everyone have a good time and a few laughs. My song of choice would probably be "We Don't Know How Lucky We Are" by Fred Dagg or "Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me" by Robbie Williams. Perhaps both...

On a slightly different note, on my headstone I would like to have carved, "Here Lies Sleepy in Seoul, and he's BLOODY annoyed".
