Deep in the heart of Texas . . . chalk one up for the American Taliban.

Museum Field Trip Deemed Too Revealing
by Ralph Blumenthal

FRISCO, Texas - Keep the Art in Smart and Heart, Sydney McGee had posted on her Web site at Wilma Fisher Elementary School in this moneyed boomtown that is gobbling up the farm fields north of Dallas.

Sydney McGee, a teacher in Frisco, Tex., led fifth graders through European and contemporary galleries of the Dallas Museum of Art last April. (Michael Stravato for The New York Times)

But Ms. McGee, 51, a popular art teacher with 28 years in the classroom, is out of a job after leading her fifth-grade classes last April through the Dallas Museum of Art. One of her students saw nude art in the museum, and after the childs parent complained, the teacher was suspended.

Oh, yeah. This seems like a good time to sneak a little gratuitous nudity into a thread, so here goes. . .

I wouldn't post this art if I was teaching in Texas. Can't afford to get fired.

I'll almost bet that the little girl who complained about the art will grow up to be just like BB. Complaining, biatching, and moaning about anything and everything. Cool

I visit USA often, about 3 times a year. Every time I visit, I see things and come back with new lasting and good impressions (last was Death Valley/Las Vegas, another story).

But one overriding impression I have of USA is how "small-town" - provincial in Euro-speak - and quaint is its social development or prudity. I suppose this is consistent in that it came from the state which has murdered more prisoners than almost any nation on earth.

Yes, I saw a sign - the Massachusets state boundary - that said "Birthplace of GW Bush: we are very sorry".

The acting school fees hurt the family finances.
