Having only recently arrived and being a bit of a live music fan (particularly dance music in most of its varying forms) I was wondering if there are any good sites, magazines etc about where to find out about which international DJ's/bands are playing (if indeed they actually stop by Seoul).

Also any recommendations for local DJ's and bands to go and see would be good - I've heard that Hongdae offers a pretty decent night out for those who like to dance til the early hours but any specifics etc would be much appreciated.

Cheers

www.02pro.com has the goods on the DJs. Sasha is in town in a couple weeks.

I haven't witnessed any live electronic gigs here. Hongdae is fun but I find the majority of the big clubs are fairly generic in what they play. That's for me anyway and your tastes may be different (what stuff do you like?). There's some interesting little places in Hongdae though...it's worth exploring.

Seems that not many international Dj's stop over here and those that do are located at the commercial end of the spectrum...tiesto, sasha etc.

That 02pro site never works for me..always fails to load.
(oh yeah...im fucking bruised and sore after lugging that coffin home on the subway yesterday...worth it though)

Have fun.

As for 02pro, it works with mozilla firefox. Make sure you click on the 02pro icon in the lefthand corner. Should work... if it doesn't load after that, then I don't know what the problem is. I admit, it's not the best site (not even that nicely designed) but the forums usually have some info on what's happening, even if it's only the rare gig here and there...

Anyhow, glad to hear you survived the subway trip. Always a little pain for a little gain, right? Have fun, lemme know which record you like best! Smile

M2 in Hongdae is one of the best clubs in Korea (I think)...if you like deep house, trance, rave type music. I've seen some pretty good DJ's there, like Paul Van Dyke, Michael Myers, etc..

hongdae isn't brilliant for club music even in advanced states of inebriation

i guess it depends what you're into - if you are completely undiscerning then m2 would probably be just fine

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Although I've started to listen to a lot more trance and hard house this year (the south west of the UK isn't always great for variety) I'd much prefer to be listening to breaks, d&b or some dirty, electronic house (Eric Prydz is a good example - and no, not his Call On Me sell out).

But to be honest I'll take what I can get. Sasha sounds good - when and where is he playing?
