you should've taken out the money you needed days ago..

ATMs here empty quickly here in Chuseok season and they aren't refilled until the next working day..

A lot of people are going to be screwed this year with the long holiday..

My recommendation.. go to the closest ATM and get cash out ASAP.

Yep, stupid aye!!

What's worse is, I got mail from Shinhan saying my check card won't work over Chuseok! ATMs I can understand, but a check card? Do they turn all the computers off to save power or something?

Mental!!

My boss' wife works for Shinhan, so he was quick to let us know that our cards would not work during the Chuseok week. I believe they shut down for the week, and the cards become a useless piece of plastic until October 9th - which works out well for me as that's my birthday.

But yes, I'd read a lot of posts on here that said you should take out sufficient funds for the Chuseok week anyway, but the bit about the cards just simply not working seemed ridiculous to me.

I just got money out of my Shinhan account, but I have one of the old CHB cards from before the merger.

Today is a regular day. Banks are open. Stores are open. You can get cash any time you like today. But after today, it's a different story...
