Does anyone know if there wil be a place open tomorrow (Thursday) that would sell computer parts, specifically graphics cards? My card blew up last night and I didn't have another card to fit my motherboard, so I had to reassemble my old system and it's all spread out everyone on the floor. Looks like hell, runs worse.
Any ideas? I'm thinking Yongsan but kinda betting it's gonna be closed. But isn't there any other place in Korea to buy computer hardware? I've checked with E-Mart, Home Plus, and Carrefor but they got nothin. |

| you could check Yongsan, but I doubt anything would be open. Alternatively technomart. Probably your best option would be the neighborhood computer store, though I'm not sure what kind of video card they'll have. Your motherboard doesn't have onboard video you can use until after the holiday? |

Nope. 
I've only ever seen one neighborhood computer store around here, and all I saw was a bunch of used parts lying around in a crowded store.
Why is it that there are no stores for buying computer parts in Korea? I just can't get it. Even at Yongsan, it's impossible to find something that isn't produced by a 3rd party company. That's what my card was (it's Nvidia technology but produced by "Unitech") which is why, I'm guessing, it blew up. There isn't even a customer service number I can call.

Sorry, but 
Nvidia and ATI don't assemble their own cards. Unitech are a fine company and make good products. Manufacturers must meet pretty stringent requirements before a company like ATI or Nvidia gives them a lot of chips.
If you want to go to the Nvidia store or the ATI store, you will be looking for a long, long time...they just don't exist. Usually the makers will assemble a few cards as a reference design (even those are 2nd party) for all others to use as a guide, but then they just sell the chipsets in lots. Companies like Unitech buy them and make the cards.
Unitech is a Korean company. If you don't like them, go with a bigger name like Asus, Chaintech, Elsa, BFG, Sparkle, etc...

Okay well that is somewhat reassuring. I read an article online about how ATI was first to start letting 3rd parties manufacture their products, so I inferred ATI also made them..
Unitech is good, eh? I'm curious as to why there's not even a number for them in the manual, and their English language web site doesn't work.

Korean works well in this country.
I googled them in Korean and they were the first site.
I have built a number of systems that use Unitech cards and have heard no problems. I have an aging Unitech MP3 player that still works well. Their English site never did work well and I really doubt that anyone cares. Besides you, now, that is.
Check the card in another computer if you think it's well and truly cooked. "Blew up"...literally? What was the behavior before it did so?
This belongs in tech...
Anyways, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Unitech product; they have full warranty and are indeed quality products. Stuff happens with electronics that is well beyond anyone's capability to predict nor guard against. To be sure, there are duds in every makers' production and you may well have gotten one of them. That's a shame.
