I will try to recollect as accurately and as unbiased as possible... the basic setting is a couple overstressed by really miniscule things... ( ? )

She is supposed to be coming to meet me. I call her throughout the day... three times, no answers the first two times. The third time I call her from the train station as per her usual demand, I must meet her at the train station... and... she is already in my neighborhood... "oh" I say, excuse/explanation ensues... followed by a demand that I come to her right away.

So I do.

I arrive, she isn't in my apartment (she knows the touchpad code) and no note. I wait... what else should I do... (I have no handphone yet...). Eventually she arrives, I ask for an explanation, she cannot understand why I am upset... ( ? ). I explain that she demanded I come back as soon as possible I did, and she wasn't there... she arrived a half hour after I got to my apartment. The frustration ensues.

Next day... not sure how this one happened, but... she tries to (of all things) drink milk out of the milk carton without a glass... I ask her to drink out of a glass... she refuses... she says she will do it without touching her lips to the carton... I say "please use a cup"... again she protests... I will use a more technical term here... she "sasses" me... totally ignores what I say... I tell her, "you are my guest, and I am older than you, you should respect me..." she totally ignores this... so I slap her in the had with a wallet size folder of study material... not hard mind you, just kind of... one of those, hey... don't be a jerk... listen to me... things...

anyway... the holy hell that ensued is totally beyond description...

the kicking

the screaming

the threats to call the cops

to get me deported

at one point she grabbed for a knife and threatened to stab me... all she got was my razor which she quickly discarded... but... holy hell... the yelling, the screaming, the treats...

all because I refused to take her sh*t

she comes to my place and is total freaking slob... I ask her to pick up after herself and get total attitude and indifference

for anyone that has followed my posts this is the same girl that I have been with for awhile, I think we just passed our 200 day mark... wow...

I tried to see the sunnier side of things after our separate vacations, but holy gift of God on a stick... how could she freak out and threaten to get me deported over that... it really scared me... to see someone go off like that... I saw her do it once before under the influence of soju... but whoa... this time she was sober...

Anyone else have a similar experience, can anyone relate to this? I highly doubt that whatever she's got to offer is worth all the stress I suffered because of her wild and I do mean WILD moodswings the past two days.

I have tried to couch it under "cultural differences" but it really goes far and beyond that.

Are many Korean women just angry at their core? My first K-gf would flip sometimes too, just not this far. I have also seen female Korean coteachers flip, but again, not quite this far.

She sounds off her rocker man.....

and you seem to have bad luck with K-women....

My wife sure does not flip out like this nor do the k-gfs of my friends here...except for the odd nutbar that is.

I would say you might need to move on here.

Also the "older...must respect me" deal sounded a bit odd...you demand respect as a older person but do you give it to older people here and listen to waht they say?

If so, that was an odd thing to say.

It was an odd thing to say, but really she has me at my wit's end in the cleanliness department. She has me at my wit's end in many departments, that's probably why I tried to assert myself in a "Confucian" way.

She expects me to be her doormat at all times yet criticizes my posture... hmmm.

I'd say me and another guy mentioned the same thing at the same time.

Bumpy ride?

Pull your head in.

Novel response, two points.

But... like I said... I was stressed... my wit wasn't with me.

If and when you are confronted with a similar K-SO in a similar situation you may find yourself trying to pull Confucian "rank" as a last resort as well.

Regardless... I feel that her response was a bit overboard. Even if I am an "ajoshi bore" do I deserve threats of deportation and stabbing?

My wife doesn't try to stab me, but she throws stuff. Expensive things like handphones, any type of phone actually and also inevitably winds up trying to break the vacuum cleaner if the situation esculates that far. I feel for ya bro.

It was that final straw. I slapped her in the forehead with something less than a paperback book... she has done much worse to me. It was meant as a culturally sensitive sort of thing... I know... I KNOW... that the head is a big deal in KOREAN culture... it was a light slap at what I knew to be a sensitive area... it resulted in violence and screams... am I beyond respect... a simple hapless joke to run and fetch and clean for her because she offers me the... well... you know... she seems to think so... she has jokingly told me so before...
