The government plans to reduce the amount of chlorine in tap water beginning July next year.
The Ministry of Environment said it would revise a bill on water management to adjust the minimum concentration of chlorine remaining in tap water from 0.2㎎/ℓ to 0.1㎎/ℓ.
The decision was made because 26.3 percent of people do not drink tap water because of its smell. The chlorine has a disinfecting effect, but its smell also remains in the water and makes people reluctant to drink it. Currently, only 2 to 5 percent of people drink tap water.
The revised standard is the same as that of Japan and France. |

It's not the chlorine smell that turns people off. It's the mildew/mold smell and taste. |

.2mg/l is 0.2 ppm which can't be right. Maybe they meant 2mg/l ??
Kansas City has a a range of 1.86-2.68 ppm and there is no chlorine taste.
Here locally they switched from perchlorate (household bleach) to chloramine which some of the zoo animals are sensative to. I saw it on the news.
I like chlorine. It's better than all the diseases people are growing in their refillable water bottles and cups.

Also says "Eating salads and uncooked vegetables may be unsafe. Avoid eating raw fish."
Jesus, no sashimi or sushi, that sounds like a wonderful life. |
