I went to my first baduk kiwan last night. It was very smokey, and they made me pay 5,000 won even though I got there at 6 PM and I only played 2 games. Can anybody recommend any clubs in the Seoul or Ansan area that are welcoming to fairly weak players, and don't charge 5,000 won? I'm on the #4 subway line.

why not join an on-line site?
here is one where you can play heaps:
www.netmarble.net/
You might need to get a Korean friend to set up an account.
I think learning Baduk gives a great insight into some of the thinking that goes on in Korea. Goodluck.

I could play online in the US. I'd like to meet Koreans, and unplug my face from the computer.

Hey, I'm up for a game. I live fairly close in Sanbon, same subway line. Let me know.

Some good online go servers (being friends with the creators of both hasn't influenced the recommendation in the slightest!)

Nice interface, requires Java.

An interesting idea--the games don't occur in real-time. You check your games like checking email, probably once or twice a day. Most people seem to have about ten games going at once. Runs in a browser.

Here's a nice site for computer wallpaper, backgrounds, skins, whatever you call them where you're from.
