Anyone else having a hard time finding a way to pay for monthly game subscriptions or the like? If you have figured out a way, can you share your method? WoW, SecondLife, etc.

I've tried Paypal, my Korean (worthless) card, none work. I'd like to be able to figure this out without having mommy arrange this from back home.

Thanks

Interesting....have you tried reading what sorts of payments these gaming sites accept? Do you have a credit card back home that you can use? If not, can you take out a credit card for this purpose?

Biggest regret of my time in Korea, not double-checking that my US card works here. It was supposed to, but didn't when I arrived here and actually tried to use it.

Many allow Paypal payment, but you cannot get one here--if you are a foreigner. Korean nationals can get a bank-guaranteed Paypal account, but we can't...and this isn't even a Korean law, just a paypal quirk.

Do you still have an American or Canadian bank account? If so, you can link it to Paypal. Additionally, your credit cards can linked to your paypal. You could try that.

Have you tried just putting money into a paypal account with your Korean credit card? That's basically what I do, except I use an American credit card.

Ah, this is a good idea. This will work too.

The easiest way is to just use a US (or where ever) credit card or debit card. If that isn't an option, it can get annoying. Some games might take Paypal, but some will not (WoW for example). For games that will take Paypal, as someone said, Paypal will (stupidly) not allow non-Koreans to have a Korean bank account tied to their Paypal account. If you have a bank account in the US, you can just do the typical monthly money transfer into it to fund your Paypal transactions. For games like WoW, that won't take Paypal, there are some sites where you can buy a gamecard and have the key emailed to you the same day. This sounds good in theory, but they are pretty bitchy about it. They want to call you for verification, but they don't really want to sell to you once they find out you're from Korea. One of them wouldn't verify my order unless I faxed them a copy of my passport. I have been having a friend in the US pick up things like that when I need them, and then I Paypal him the money. It's much easier, if that's an option for you.
