M-Audio delta 44 PCI soundcard
This soundcard has 4 balanced (3 conductor, low-noise, looks like a stereo plug) inputs and 4 balanced outputs, and converts at 24 bit / 96 kHz. I have had it about 4 years. Designed for use with DAW software like Cubase, Reason, etc (not included).
complete information here
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Delta44-main.html
(note: I don't have Ableton Live Lite 4 like it mentions on that page.)
I have the original driver CD, but of course you are better off going to M-Audios website to download the latest driver.
Please note that this soundcard is a PCI soundcard. If you have an extremely new (PCI express) computer, make sure it has PCI slots in it.
The MSRP is $200 USD but it looks like it goes new for $150 USD these days.
Im not in a real hurry to sell it. I dont expect to get anywhere NEAR the new price, and thus am open to cash offers. I promise not to get upset by insultingly low ones, so try your best lowball.
However: I think theres not enough cashless trading going on in this forum these days, so I am curious about YOUR neglected musical equipment.
Things Im particularly interested in:
- cheap bass guitar
- dynamic bass drum microphone
- outboard (rack) reverb or other effects processor
- KAOSS pad or other weird midi controller
However, I might be interested in whatever you have. We could work out the cash difference if one item is worth more than the other.
Im in Seoul; pm me if interested. |

Hmm, 50k is not outrageous, but first, are you sure the card is going to work for you? It has 4 line-level (balanced or unbalanced) inputs. No mic preamps or instrument (hi-impedance) inputs.
Sorry if this sounds patronizing, not sure who you are or how much you know, but that means that the things you CAN plug directly into it include:
-DJ mixer or other analog mixer
-CD player, cassette player
-keyboard, synthesizer, drum machine
and the things you CANT would include:
-a guitar (acoustic or electric), unless you buy a separate DI box
-a microphone, without a separate preamp
you might actually get a sound with either of those things, but it wouldnt be ideal. I was using the sound card with the outputs from a Mackie analog mixing board.
still interested? |

ah wow... you got me there then. in fact i was looking for something to plug microphones and guitars into. i know virtually nothing about home recording but i want to get started, so i just threw in the 50k as i figured that even if it didn't do exactly what i wanted, i wouldn't be losing that much..
well.. thanks so much for your honesty. if you have anything suitable for guitar/mic then i'd be glad to buy from you.. |

Well, youre not the first guy who contacted me wanting to do that with it, so I thought Id hijack my own thread and make a few suggestions:
tascam us-122
www.tascam.com/Products/US-122.html
(as I post, this link seems to be broken, but google assures me the page exists)
this comes with cubase le which is just about all the software you need to get started
about $150 USD new online
as an alternative, one I havent tried but looks pretty good on paper:
Presonus Inspire
http://www.presonus.com/inspire1394.html
also comes with cubase le; youll need firewire though
about $200 USD new online
one more, especially good for electric guitarists:
line 6 toneport
http://www.line6.com/toneport/
the cheaper one is only 170k in Korea (at http://mnshome.com) but I dont think it comes with cubase or other multitracking software
However, all of the above can handle guitars plugged straight into them. With some nice fake digital overdrive you can even convince an acoustic with a built-in pickup to sound like an electric.
I actually own the tascam, and yknow what? Its not for sale! I think it rocks. Im upgrading my main system, which is why Im selling the m-audio card that is the subject of this thread, but Im going to keep my us-122 for occasional use with my laptop. You could do much worse than to keep your eye open for a used one on ebay.
If I were starting on a budget, my beginners recording studio would be the tascam, about $200 for a cheap but decent Chinese-made condenser microphone, some headphones, and whatever computer I was using already. With nothing but that gear and some brains there's no reason you couldn't get a good recording.
Well, Im not doing a very good job of getting rid of my m-audio so Ill shut up here. It's not a beginner's all-in-one solution but the converters sound incredibly good, it's 4-in 4-out (can't record 4 channels simultaneously with the tascam), and it's going cheap. STILL FOR SALE OR TRADE PEOPLE! PROFESSIONAL 4-IN 4-OUT PCI AUDIO INTERFACE!!!! |

I'd prefer "exception" to "prince"! |

The M-audio Delta's are good solid cards and it seems like you are offering a fair deal here. If I had pci I'd definitely be considering this. |

Yeah, the delta is nice, and amazing for the price. I use it with my EMU XL-1 and MiniKorg. To the buyer: I don't recommend newest drivers (6/06) though on XP SP1 or SP2 systems...for some reason it wasn't compatible on my friends or my computers, creating errors. The previous ones work just fine with Sonar (me) and ProTools (friend). I thought since this was on two systems it was worth a mention.
Really nice of the OP to give good advice on preamps. |

Thanks for that, ambvalent. I know youre not trying to scare off any buyers, but a reminder to potential buyers that there is a full download history of archived drivers on m-audios site, so they should be able to find one that works for them, and also that I have the original driver CD.

Still not sold. Sigh. (I was hoping for an obscure trade for some weird piece of gear that I couldnt otherwise justify buying, but cash is cool! ) |

Just poking around and I found this thread. Just a quick question...
You say the Tascam can't record 4 tracks at once but could it if you combined it with the piece of hardware you're selling?
I'll give you my ideal non-travelling setup so you'll understand what I'm working with...
I'd like to be able to record a bass, guitar, vocals, and drums all at once on separate tracks (using a combination of direct instrument patch-ins and mics) onto a desktop computer/DAT combination.
If you have the time as well I'd like to hear what suggestions you might have for a Mac iBook G4-centric setup with the same needs. I was thinking of getting this: http://www.audiomidi.com/Fast-Track-Pro-P6905.aspx?CPID=392&AFID=3# but as a newb to the whole digital recording thing I'm not exactly sure of what I'm looking at.
Unrelated to the stuff above, do you have any projects where you might need a standup bassist? I'm in Pyeongchon (#4 line, SW of Seoul) lookin to groove:D There'll be a pickup installed on my bass tomorrow so I can plug into a PA/Amp/recording setup no sweat. PM me if you've got anything. Juilliard grad:D |
