So what would it take for you to pack up and head for the airport?
I just mentioned to my coteacher I was thinking of leaving tomorrow.
She is totally unfazed and said "maybe we'll all die".

I am at more risk when I step into a vehicle. I'm leaving anyway for unrelated reasons in January, but I think we need to put this all into perspective. Testing the bomb is a provocative act, but it is not a declaration of war-- yet.

Thats true, but I think war will, must happen round about now, before NK demonstrates a clear ability to actually deliver its nuke.
I think its highly unlikely China or Japan will sit around and wait for NK to develop its programme further. SK & the US have less reason to get involved I think.
Now is the window. If they wait too much longer Nk will be able to threaten and dictate to them with ease.
I'd rather China intervened than the US on this. |

I'll wait and see what Bush does next. (As of now, it's 11 hours and counting, and he's been completely incommunicado - which may be a good thing, really...)
When I hear that a US task force/carrier group is being prepped, I'm heading to the airport. Until then, it's Starbucks by day and whiskey by night to get me by.

| You shouldn't start to worry until the US starts evacuating it's military dependents. If and when you see that happen GET OUT. You may want to stockpile a few days worth of food and water in addition to a good bit of cash. I would have a bag packed- just in case. |

If the US says get out, you should do so.
In the event that things start blowing up in Seoul, get out.
I would have a bag packed on general principles, but I don't think there's too much to worry about.
Except the Maddog of the DMZ.
Yeah, I mean Dubya.
OK, run like hell.
Seriously I have no idea what will happen, but I would take some basic precautions like packing a bag with basic travel necessities, including a bit of lightweight perservable food, and spend some time playing what would I do IF, for various scenarios.
Other than that I'd go on about my life. |

?? This is not the 19th century. Air power, rockets, missiles, and mortars will fight. The troops on either side of the border unfortunately won't stand a chance if something did happen.
I don't wanna talk about the chance of this happening, but your poll doesn't accurately reflect the situation. I think most of us are waiting to see what the rhetoric from both sides will be like from now on. Hope for the best. |
