Question #1
Ok..here's the situation, we have agreed via email to a contract that starts us in October (we're both in Canada right now) and so that leaves us about 5 weeks for us to send all our documents to our school director, have them go through the process and send out our little blue slip, and then go get that stamped in our passport office. My question is..is 5 weeks enough time for all this or should I start to worry about not getting the visa stuff in time? Anyone got an idea on how long this takes (starting from our end, sending all the documentation out).
Question #2
My girlfriend's visa expires in 7 months and is in the process of applying for a new one here in Canada. If she sends a copy to the director of the school in Korea of the expiring passport, and then just waits until her new passport comes in before we go..will this complicate matters for us once we get into Korea? Any ideas? I hope this makes sense to everyone! Thanks! |

#1 5 weeks? No problem! You blue paper shouldn't take any longer than 2 weeks to be issued (a lot depends on how much "pull" your boss/school has with immigration). Make sure you send your docs by registered mail.
#2 I presume you meant passport (not visa) is expiring? I'm not sure... it will mean different passport numbers. Hmmmm. How long will it take her to get the new passport? If it's not too far away (2 weeks?) I'd say hold off until then. Call the Korean embassy in Canada and ask them. |

oops..I mean her passport is expiring. The office told her it will take up to 4 weeks to get the passport..but even it it takes two weeks that still only leaves us with 2 weeks to get our stuff out to him and then get him to send out the blue slip and plane tickets..
He said to send out the expiring one for now and that it will just mean more of a headache with imigration after..but I'm not sure what exactly that means |

Thanks for the further info. I reiterate my earlier suggestion... call the Korean embassy and ask them. I imagine it will be a bit of a headache... |
