I am probably going to get mocked for this, but when you have worked in Industrial Engineering then this is the kind of stuff you do.
Prepare for the worst...expect the best.
1. How much water are you going to stock your apartment with?
2. What kind of food are you going to store up?
3. Who becomes your friend?
4. What are some of the necessities to sticking this out?
Here are some of the things I have been thinking about. What I would like to see is a formal set of people come together and plan this so if things escalate then we could be better prepared for such an event.
1. Buying a water filter or iodine kit so I can drink the water. Maybe buy a R.O. kit.
2. I am thinking of buying as much can stuff and dried stuff as possible.
3. Networking. Connected to many churches throughout Korea. If you are interested in knowing where some of these churches are, pm me. There are YWAM bases throughout Seoul and I know that they will be helping people in the event of an emergency. I will be talking to my pastor in the next couple of days and hoping we are prepared to help.
4. Buying walkie talkies and assigning channels. I worked in the ski patrol and we had signals for certain events. Maybe someone has some good ideas for this?
5. Finding places where we can hide out in the time of the war. Mount Jirisan probably would be a good location. Rugged terrain, lots of good hiding spots, very big and so on. I can think of others that quite remote and not well known. Definitely having camping gear would be a plus. |

Honestly, as a foreigner in Korea. Forget sheltering down.
Move as quickly as possible to a known exit point would be the best option.
If you have sufficient supplies to carry you until you reached that point, that would be good. If not, hope for the best and keep moving until you reached one.
Though, expect the unexpected and be ready to deal with it. |

| Everyone should register themselves with their respective embassies. In the case of evacuation your name will be on the embassy list and transport for you out of Korea would be organized. |

Well, since no flying out of Korea due to Incheon being destroyed in under a minute... hmmm... and of course, since Seoul will be leveled and covered in a chemical / nuclear dust, the embassy may not be an option.... our only hope may be Busan!
I say we get a caravan to Busan started! A rogue band of ESL teachers on stolen scooters and hijacked cabs! Mad Max style! Us non-Americans will have to look out and fend for ourselves. We'll need those pellet gun things I keep seeing our students toting around, just in case. I live just outside of Seoul, so I may be "mutated" by the fallout and, thus, a little more ugly than usual. But we'll all be! This will now be known as the "Busan Caravan of Mutant ESL teachers!" Sound sci-fi? I think not!

On my first go-round in Korea ten years ago, I had dinner one night at the New Zealand commercial attache's place. A guy from the American embassy was there, and somehow the conversation got around to the whole registration and evacaution thing and the guy said to me and I'm quoting loosely here, "You can sign up and we'll give you a place to go, but we won't be there." He went on to explain that given the conditions of Seoul, there is no real evacuation plan for Seoul. What they do have is a well-developed plan for defending Pusan, a deep-water port where troops could be brought in.
If you're going to hide out, start now. |

| I would just run to the nearest US military base and take shelter there. I wouldn't need to stock up on any food stuff because I am sure they would have plenty of MREs (Meal Ready to Eat) and water, snack, m&m, steak, beer, whiskey............. |

I was about to applaud you for this post, but then (see highlighted part) you manage to stuff it all up by finding a way to work your agenda into it. My god, man! Is there anything you write here that is not in someway connected to your mission here to convert us all to your vision of the afterlife? You, sir, are about as transparent as pane of glass, we can see straight through you. |

I kind of hope you get to the closest military target before it is turned into a crater so we can weed another master of logic like you out of the gene pool.  |
