I want to buy a new computer. I don't game, but I like snappy internet.
First thing, I don't want to break the bank. 700,000 to 1,000,000 would be about right.
Also, I want legal English Windows. Most of my problems with the old computer seem to stem from not being able to update my illegal English Windows.
Basically, in order to avoid an open ended question, can anyone suggest the best place to buy in Busan, and the best way to go about getting legit English Windows with the computer?
Any suggestions about can't do without features or add ons would be appreciated as well. Oh yeah, as would suggestions about the best form of protection for my virgin computer. Norton updates can't be purchased on an English webpage from Korea, and I don't know about McAfee, so I'd like to stay away from both of those this time around. Are Avast and AVG really any good? What do I have to run them with, and how do I protect the computer between first internet start up and download of the programs? Seriously, the piece of shit that I have now got a virus within ten minutes of me removing Symantec Internet Security from my computer. |

I have used AVG for a long time. I've never had a virus. You can get free firewall software too, or buy one.
I also use Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy and Peer Guardian.
I stay away from Norton stuff, but that's just me.
About buying in Busan. Do you know the computer markets around Busan?
I've bought parts and upgrades but not a whole system from the Myeonghyundong and Gaegum computer markets. There is another one somewhere in Yeonsan-dong. |

If you can't find what you want in Busan, shop online from Yongsan.
http://pc.danawa.com/
Those boys all draw from the same well, so call a store, tell them exactly what you want (sfter you have made a price list yourself, so you don't get scammed) and then they will gather it all and deliver it to Busan for a nominal fee. |

OH YES IT CAN!
That's how I purchased my Norton's. |
I'll reconsider Norton then, but I think I'll switch to McAfee, since I was able to have real time chat with a helpful agent when I was researching their products.
I was using a boxed version of Norton, and when I tried to renew I would be directed to the Korean site, and the English sites from Canada and the US would refuse access. It was a headache, and required subscription key numbers and other crap. When I phoned to ask about it I had to talk to some dude with a south Asian accent I could barely understand. He said I couldn't access the American or Canadian renewal site from Korea. He actually said that, and it's about the only thing he said clearly. Poor service in my opinion.
For information's sake, how do I keep my new computer protected between start up and online purchase of an anti-virus product? My old computer was infected within minutes of removing the old Norton. Probably the illegal un-updated Windows had something to do with this, but I'm not sure. |

You can download a number of free anti-virus software products. Check out the stickies above; they should have some useful info. |
