Doctors urge more playtime for children
Here's some soothing medicine for stressed-out parents and overscheduled kids: The American Academy of Pediatrics says what children really need for healthy development is more good, old-fashioned playtime.

Many parents load their children's schedules with get-smart videos, enrichment activities and lots of classes in a drive to help them excel. The efforts often begin as early as infancy.

I would also argue that we urge the parents to play more with the kids also!

If only for the workout though it would also help create a more beneficial "parenting" situation.

If Americans are so good in business at "cutting out the fat"....they just might be able to do this too.

i recently read something along these lines in the opinion section of the iht. it mentioned that us schools are irresponsible for cutting physed programs (i would add the arts as well) and that the method of teaching is becoming more and more oriented toward rote learning. the author's concern was basically that the current generation of students in the states are being turned into robots.
