I disagree. The current events forum is an important platform for Daves posters to discuss crucial topics that affect our world.

I confess to the occasional click, but the following link - a random example - is surely the most turgid, uninteresting shower of all time.

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=68244

And yet you could sum it all up with this simple phrase:

I need help. And human friends.

Normally I would agree but there's some amusement to be had there sometimes.

There hasn't always been a current events forum. It was created because threads like that were fagging up the off-topic forum.

Wellers?Think I can see the BNZ Tower.

I used to get stoned and sit in the Ludwig wies van der Rohe Barcelona chairs in the lobby.

Haven't been back to NZ in 6 years. Can't imagine current events changing there too much.

The only time I find myself there is when I click on the link by mistake and think that I'm in the off-topic board. Agreed that it sucks. And by sucks, I mean sucks cock. I saw it in the chickencoop sucking on that cock.

Well I guess I am one to take on all the 'fashionistas".

Nothing there? Well it is much like garbage in, garbage out. You reap what you sow and all that. Or as my grand daddy on the farm would squeal. Pigs have no problems, it is only us and how we complain about how we cook 'em.

Of course the metaphor escapes you so just stay where ye be billy bob.......

DD

I do follow Spinoza's advice that " once you know the principals, who needs the particulars?" But current affairs is a misnomer. Meaning, it is less about what happens and more about what might change in each of us...

Just my 3 cents. And I do occassionally join in elsewhere to comment on threads about Motley crew and the newest celebrity ripped skirt craze and how there is no peanut butter at the local H Mart..............just for the fun of it.

Don't go there if you don't like it? I rarely do. I do wish people would bother to check the threads that are already there instead of starting ten threads on the same topic... I'd love to hear what people are thinking about this NK situation but I really can't be bothered to wade through all those threads.

Sucks kitten balls. But gives the riff-raff a festering hole of their very own.

Each to their own, it's sort of like a group of bars in a town. There are some you would go to and there are some that are full of raging nutters, oops, I meant teachers.

Very important!

This was not meant as an attack on the participants in that particular thread in the OP (at the time Adventurer and Big Bird).

The object of scorn was simply the content of the article posted and the characters within it - NOT posters!

Ok, cool.

Said article just struck me as terrifically dull.

What are you then implying about those who post such things? Don't be coy.

That seems fair advice. I usually do go there, but I read very few threads there and reply to fewer. (Just like I do here.) Usually I can tell with about 75% sucess rate of filtering out threads that I won't find interesting by reading the title first. Or checking the OP's name. For example, if the OP is Igotthisguitar, it's definately not going to be worth clicking on (for me at least.)

I wonder how the reverse of this poll would fare over there though.
