Here is my situation. My wife will be giving birth sometime in the near future. I told my employer that I want to use my sick day for this. They said I must pay for my replacement. They said my wife was the one that is sick and I couldn't claim it as a sick day. Anyway, I haven't taken 1 sick day in the 6 months I have been here. I was trying to be up front, honest, and helpful.

My question, are there any Labor Laws regarding fatherhood???

Just tell your boss that your wife is having a baby and you will be at the hospital. After the birth you are going to go and get drunk to celebrate. You will be back after you get sober AFTER the birth of the baby.

Most places allow 3 days (custom not law) for the birth of a baby.
The lady gets 90 days leave (60 with pay) by law.

Your boss is an axx.

Why do people tell their bosses when they are going to use sick days.

Go visit your wife. If your boss is pissed...tell him to kiss your a$$.
Call in sick. You are also around a bunch of doctors...ask one of them for a note.
Tell them your boss in an ass. Even if the doctor's note has an OBGYN.

Tell your boss you had Penile problems and had to see a sex doctor. I bet he'll/she'll let the matter drop.

I won't lie to them. This is the last time I try to be considerate though.

I work for a company - we teach their execs and managers. When one of the wives has a baby, the man is allowed to be absent from class for the day of the birth only. One day, no exceptions - and this is English class, not even the "real work."
