If one were to do a runner, would the school have a legal leg to stand on in say, Canada or the US in terms of launching legal action in Korea to get the flight money back? Looking for some info to set someone straight.

Contracts are pretty important in America. i'd say that you were obligated to pay.

Enforecement of the judgement might be tricky.

no!

They would have no leg to stand on as the repayment clause violates Korean labour laws.

Over and above that, it would cost them much more money to pursue the claim than they would get back.

Dont sweat it!

The contracts that are used here typically have a jurisdictional clause that states something to the effect that any litigation will be done in Korea and under Korean laws.

The contracts are NOT enforceable in another country. There is no jurisdiction for a court to even consider looking at it.

No worry mate. Pull a runner and they can only chase you in Korea.
