Why don't you go straight to the source. Ask the US Military stationed here. There are tons of soldiers, befriend a few, and find out why they are here. If they're high ranking officers, then you'll get a better answer.

The USA has an obligation to protect South Korea. Whether or not that entails keeping troops in South Korea, I don't know. Because the war never ended, we have a strange situation.

It is similar to what I was reading the other day. If North Korea ever attacks South Korea again, Canada is obligated to help South Korea. I am sure that some of the other countries may be the same. With the USA playing the major role in the war, I am sure their obligation is much, much bigger.

The US military provided security to S. Korea so that it could industralize. If they hadn't been here, I am sure that S. Korea would not be the way it is today. So, when should they leave? This is the big question. I think things are good just the way they are now.

You said in other threads that you were American. Don't you think it's a little too obvious that you are a sock pretending (poorly) to be American? Every single thing you have written on this board is about how evil America is and how you hate America.

Where's WorldWide? Where's DW?

Oh, he's here. Hi Meegook!

Where are you really from? You're one of those diposable socks. You know, the ones that pop up, like WorldWide, make a big scene post a lot of crap, and get banned in a week.

Lso, asking questions like this OP shows you are either not too bright, or not too smart.

I beg your pardon.

Please provide one statement I've made on this board that indicates in even the slightest way that I think America is evil, or kindly retract your statement.

Please provide even one statement that I have made that would even insinuate that I "hate America," or kindly retract your statement

And before you set out on your fable hunt, may I sugget you might want to spend a few minutes distinguishing betweenthe United States of America the nation and what it stands for and the American Government.

Oops! Do I need to PM you to let you know about the above post? I thinkI do. It's Wednesday the 18th about 8:30. Let's see how long it takes you to come up with those quotes that show us how much I hate America. Shouldn't be too hard if 'every single thing I've written" indicates that.

Dude, use a normal font size and calm the *beep* down.

The Americans are "in" Korea for a wide variety of reasons. If you want to know about it go get some books on Korean history and the history of the USA-ROK alliance. If you want a soundbite that will fit your ideology then consult your resident anti-yank 'teacher' at your hakwon.

As this is the CE forum, perhaps a better topic would be "should the USA be in Korea today?"? No?

It used to be the lefties and anti-US types that wanted US troops out, but today the righties want it even more. http://www.rjkoehler.com/2006/10/18/mutual-burdens-what-mutual-burdens/

Maybe he is waiting for you to stop using such an annoyingly large font all the time?

Now both left and right want them out.

I think USFK served a very useful purpose during the Cold War, keeping the norks and Chinese out and allowing democracy and capitalism to develop. But, now that they are democratic and capitalistic, the job is done, and it is time to go home.

The font size you use reminds me of the idiots who always chat/post/message in all caps and it is annoying. Maybe it is why people "nit pick" and make "snide attacks" on you?The font size you always seems to use comes off as obnoxious and annoys them automatically making them hostile towards you?

Maybe the guy is doing it (largey fonts)because he's older and likes to read his own writings over and over again. Maybe the large font helps him.

Maybe he's just doing it on purpose, lol

Seems like some here like to define things for others. If there is a fine line between Current Events and General Discusions, let me know what it is and I'll ask for the thread to be moved.

I'm just looking for some answers to some questions I've had for many years and some discussion from and with others who have lived here about this issue. Is this the place for that or not?

And I really don't apreciate the labels some of you are so quick to pin on people for what ever your reasons. It's fairly disheartening when , in a forum of teachers, to realize how low the civility and intellectual level is among so many in the learning profession today. I trust those who are not at this adolescent level will participate as much or more than those who can't rise above their nit picking and snide attacks to engage in a civil discussion.

You wouldn't have a link for that stat would you?

Madam/Sir:

PM me for a sincere, scholarly answer to your question.

Seriously, I'll answer your question in a scholarly manner.

Sincerely,

Roch

Interesting, someone raises a serious question to get some serious answers/input and instead, with a few notable exceptions thankfully, gets anything but.

Whatever happened to "the only stupid question was the one not asked?" I have reasons for wanting to find out YOUR OPINIONS on the OP. If you don't care to give it, why are you even in this thread and more importantly, why are you replying?

As for the font, this forum software is like....ancient. And why do you guys use such annoying small font all the while creating largely unnoticed eye strain that might lead to poor vision in the future?
