Hi

I apologize since I know this should go in the Buy/Trade/Sell forum, but more people check here and I'd like to find out fast.

I'm hoping someone might know if you can find region free DVD players in Yongsan? Thanks.

To answer your question: probably. But I heard the one at the link above is really good. Cheap and free delivery. Haven't bought it myself yet, but will soon, I think.

I bought a region free DVD player in Yongsan. It also plays every kind of file, even files my computer has trouble playing. It plays MP4 and everything else you will likely have. It cost me 140,000won, but that was more than a year ago now. It is awesome and I have never had a problem. The only files it won't play are the .mov files, but who uses those anymore anyways.

Don't take a risk with the no-name brands, as one usually gets what he or she pays for.

Buy this really good one that I got this year. It's a Yamaha that plays all regions and NTSC AND PAL PLUS it can play DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD (SACD). Better yet, it has progressive scan for BOTH NTSC and PAL, whereas many players have the scan for one or the other but NOT both.

All for 161,000 won INCLUDING delivery in Seoul.

Thanks, but the problem is I don't have a credit card to use here. Thanks for the help though. Smile

I ordered my regions free DVD player for 50,000 won off Gmarket.co.kr and paid with Paypal. After pricing a few items in Yongsan, I realized that I would never buy anything from there. Much cheaper online, and you don't have to deal with the jackass sales clerks who populate Yongsan's market.

Get a friend to do it OR use Web banking to deposit the amount online.

I need to replace one of our broken down videos, it seems a waste of money and time to buy a new vcr. I don't want a combo either.

SO

What brand and model did you buy and are you happy with it?

I paid 180,000 won for a JVC VCR because it had the S-Video input. That input gives your tapes new life onscreen.

Bought this one (http://global.yesasia.com/en/mc/-/CmsCreative1-75@26/en/prddept.aspx/pid-1004058103/code-c/section-electronics/) about a month ago and have been loving it. S-Video just plain doesn't work, but component & RCA work fine. Can't get Divx/Xvid disks to work on it, but it is most certainly region free.

These amusement devices aren't important to me anymore so I don't pay much attention but did read about VLC.org today. The article said "region free format free" over and over agin.

I got this one.

I've only played legitimate Korean DVDs on it so far, so I'm not sure how it will react to the street vendor knockoffs. I'm sure it can handle those, as well, but I'm not very interested in finding out.

It looks pretty cool as far as DVD players go. It's white with blue LED and ultra slim design. I like it more than the $20 player I had in the US.

Umm, that link only takes me to Gmarket's start page. I'm guessing you bought this one

http://itempage.auction.co.kr/DetailView.aspx?ItemNo=A061129184&frm2=through

Am I right?

I've seen this one online before and like the look of it. I would use it for legit DVDs and burnt divX tv series. Having support for subtitles with divx files is a plus.

Actually, does anyone know where I can get a cable to go from my laptop to my TV to play DVDs? I'm just sick of having to watch them on my computer.
