Hi,

this is my first post as i've only recently signed up to this forum.

Could anyone tell me if you have had any experiences (good or bad) with any of the public schools in Masan? Or even about the place itself?

I've had an agent from Job Busan Inc. send me some info about positions at public schools in Masan.

What ages are the Elementary to Middle school kids?
How is the classroom behaviour over there? I wouldn't like to teach them if they're anything like highschool kids in Sydney public schools.

Thanks.

Masan is a smaller city about 45 minutes from Busan, the second bigest city in teh country. Busan is great, but I don't know much about Masan. For a newbie, I think smaller towns can be challenging. Why not come to Busan?
Elementary kids are 8-13, grades 1-6
MS is 14-16, grades 1-3

Elementary kids are pretty wild, MS are too tired from all the studying to give you any discplinary problems.

If you are looking in that area, I recommend Kim and Joe recruiting. www.kimandjoe.com

If you are teaching elementary to middle school, it sounds like a hakwon and NOT a public school.

Masan is on the south coast, and is part of a larger metropolitan area. Masan is the oldest part, with streets that are not straight, then there is Jinhae where the Korean navy base is located; and Changwon, the newest part. Altogether the 3 have about 1 million people. I lived in Jinhae for 4 years and loved the area. I think Masan is the least attractive of the 3, but not terrible by any means.

Masan is not the nicest city...it is a manufacturing and port city which is pretty run down nowdays(excpet for Shin masan) and with virtually little planning...maybe the dirtiest city i have been to in Korea.

I worked there for a year and while it sure had heaps of character and was very korean i wasn't sad to say goodbye to it at the end....
