I have a weekly activity class, and this week, we are going to have class outside in the playground. I have thought of a couple games or activities, but I don't really know what I am going to do. It's one of those classes where you don't really put a lot of thought into the preparation because generally it is just board games and card games every week. Has anybody done some good outdoor activities that they want to share?

I did an outdoor scavenger unt with my highschoolers. Basically, I went around our school playground and made up questions like this:

How many benches are there?
What color is the sign at the gate etc.

Or you could give them a list of things to collect from the playground and the first team to find everything gets a prize.

If you'd l;ike a copy of my scavenger hunt to adapt to your students PM me your e-mail address.

I had another thought.

How many kids do you have and how much equipment do you have?

Could you set up a mini assault course/mini olympics? Set up say 5 different stations or so and the teams compete against each other to see who is the quickest to complete all the stations?

Or if you wangle some cash out of your director take a trip to you local discount shop.

I found a plastic ring toss for 2,000 won in mine and they had various other toys too.

I've got the same type of class and went out and bought some frisbees. They loved it. We played Ultimate Frisbee and Frisbee golf. We've also got hockey sticks and we played floor hockey with this big ball. Generally with that class, I give them some toothpicks, straw, paper, glue, and tape and them give them a project to complete over several classes. Build me a bridge that can hold a toy car, build me a 30 cm tower, things like that.
